hessi Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 ok this might be a bit uncommon in communities where the big PIMPs post their normalmapped whatevers but i am serious: do you have any favorite computer games for kids? i am talking of a possible age of 4 to max. 10 years. so not killing or evil games. the reason i ask for is, that i am possibly going to make a gamedesign + implementation of computer game due to my bachelor degree at uni. so i was wondering if you have any experience with this casual genre and can recommend nice games. i would prefer games that run on windows + mac (+ linux). i could live with windows only games too but this would reject my teammate from testing on her own. playable demos would be appreciated! i found some "Janosch" themed computer games but as long as we dont own any trademarks this can only be considered for research matter. -HP- Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 Seed-Studios, the company I'm working on, made 2 titles for DS, the target was exactly kids! We are working in a third title, that is definitely be a really nice DS title, but I can't say anything about it, yet... Anyways: http://www.seed-studios.com/en/index.ph ... 3&Itemid=4 Quote
Wunderboy Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 My mate's kids LOVE the Lego series of games and I have to admit, after trying them out on his XBox they are pretty damn good! Quote
hessi Posted August 31, 2007 Author Report Posted August 31, 2007 i got no Nintendo DS though i am talking of a project thaat can be done in like 4 months with two people! the one is me and the other is a girl that wants to focus more on the design (game and graphics). so a complex game like the Lego Star Wars for example is not what i would be aiming for. it has to be a small game. i just found a demo of something where kids can put together an alien with eyes and mouths and noses etc. that is what i would have in mind. so the kids can mess around with it and then save their layouts somewhere. thanks for the posting HP! Warby Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 i don't know if it is targeted at kids but i used to be heavily addicted to popcaps rocket mania: http://www.popcap.com/gamepopup.php?theGame=rocketmania Quote
Steppenwolf Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 Beyond Good & Evil isn't bad. kids can put together an alien with eyes and mouths and noses etc. that is what i would have in mind. so the kids can mess around with it and then save their layouts somewhere. Sounds like z-brush. My 8 year old nephew likes to mess around with the program and draw slimey or disgusting "things". Quote
Quakis Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 Don't know if this would help much, but I made a topic over at 3dRealms forums asking about recommened children's pc games/activities for my niece. Could be something there that may give you an idea; Here Quote

Psy Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 Pokemon has some good games (the handheld ones) apart from Gold and Silver (terrible, terrible world map design). Quote
D3ads Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 Well.. I played Wolfenstein 3D when I was 11.. Quote
dux Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 If d3 made games for kids it would be something like silent hill crossed with the crow. Quote
D3ads Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 I've never even seen the Crow you know... Quote
dux Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 Seriously? What the fuck is wrong with you! Go see it. Quote
