Mazy Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 I'm still planning on getting a new PC after for Crysis (donno if I can be bothered to just play it just on my work machine), but yeah, consoles are where its at now. Much better investment overall, but I guess I'm also kinda biased since my home PC is a piece of shit now Quote
KoKo5oVaR Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 When i'll see a game worth the gameplay of baldur's gate 2 on a next gen console, i'll buy one.. Quote
Section_Ei8ht Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 PC > All. More freedom and modability. Plus keyboard and mouse. I do own numerous consoles, though Quote
Nysuatro Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 isnt unreal 3 going to support keyboard and mouse for ps3 ? Quote
twiz Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 Just get behind the times. Its so much easier and cheaper. Have a computer that is 2 years out of date, and play games that are 2 years old. Computer parts are cheap as dirt when they're that old, games are cheap, all the patches/bugs have been worked out, there are tons of reviews for games/hardware out there so you know exactly what to get. Or you could just not play games anymore, like me. Quote
Thrik Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 People still play PC games? Seriously, get a freaking console already. It's a quarter of the cost and you get 100% compatibility. And a total absence of games which've literally provided me with dozens of hours of fun such as Battlefield 2(142) and Company of Heroes. Once again, it's all about genres. The genres you like most will almost certainly dictate your preference, because even today FPS and RTS games pretty much feel like ass on consoles, and especially in the case of FPS games I just don't enjoy them in the same way because that huge tactile precision element is gone. Obvious solutions are for keyboards/mice to be used on consoles, but in most cases you don't really want to be using those when you're sat in an area your console is likely to be: your lounge. Plus the current state of actual implementation of them on consoles is so laughable that it's hardly worth considering as a realistic option. I mean, cost obviously isn't a problem. I could buy every single current generation console on top of the high-end PC I have, and still not feel the sweat. I'm guessing the same goes for anyone who has a job. The point is I just prefer playing the type of games I like to play on the PC. I don't have the spare time to exhaustively play all four platforms, so I go with the one I enjoy most. Simple! I do find it somewhat amusing and intriguing how at the end of the day, the whole PC/console argument essentially comes down to peripherals and environment. Perhaps controls like what the Wii provide will be the key to closing the divide between consoles and PCs. Heck, if pointing devices became a standard implementation there's no reason all three companies' consoles plus the PC (thanks, Logitech) couldn't enjoy a standardised control method. After all, even though the PC has already overtaken console graphics with ease as usual, the divide isn't so big that it'd really detriment your fun to play it on the console's hardware rather than a top-end PC. I absolutely believe that the 360 and PS3's reliance on input devices that seem increasingly archaic is the only thing holding them back from being truly dominant in every single genre. We need that tactile pointing precision. It's just a shame the Wii is indeed as inferior as it is with regards to hardware, meaning it can't really be used as a solid proof of concept of just how much impact the pointing device could have on the types of games we see on the PC/360/PS3. The Wiimote also has sensitivity issues which might piss off mouse lovers. Perhaps the next generation will hold the key. Quote
Psy Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 The Wiimote is a god-send to consoles and I hope Sony and MS use pointing devices next gen as well. Quote

QFT and well, i use to save up some money all year long, then when i feel thats its not good enough ill start looking first ill check product releases (to see if any new ones are coming out)] then price-cuts dates. after that ill just go read about 10 reviews about the products that i have in mind, and choose the product with the most $/perfomance and thats how i kept my computer fairly up to date it runs bioshock (demo) on high with an average of 40 fps, but ill prolly get a bit lower so i have 60 fps.
