MrH2o
I'm looking for some nice, good headphones for my gaming experience. My current setup today is a 5.1 system wich I'm happy with (a feeling i suspect my family and neigbours dosen't share) I use it for both my PC and Xbox put I've decided to try headphones for awhile now. The 5.1 system (wich btw is this http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=4&subcategory=25&product=240 have this little remote with a headphones plug to it. My question first of all is that if i buy headphones with surround will they get reduced effects due to the fact that its allready going tru another 5.1 system? I'm looking for headphones that have great sound (obviosly) surround sound and/or 5.1, Mic for gaming is something that im intrested in but I prefer good sound. Any ideas? Rick_D
Logitech USB Headset 250 Doesn't look like much, but I promise you they are amazing. I've owned about 5 pairs and I've yet to find a combination of such good bassy headphones (perfect for music, perfect for gaming) and a high quality mic that is audible over vent, ts, skype, ingame codecs etc They are about 40 pounds here so I presume they will be about 80 or 90 euros if my maths is right (which it won't be) - but maybe try and get a demonstration of them in the store. If not then just buy them, you'll not be disappointed.
Skjalg
KOSS is the way to go... Personally I own a pair of philips headphones right now which i paid over 1300 NOK for. They sound great, and have lasted almost 3 years now, but I remember KOSS beeing teh shit when it comes to reasonably priced shit..

Thrik
Headphones can go up into many hundreds, Koko. Although a lot of people aren't too bothered, the quality can easily match high-end speaker equipment at a fraction of the price; although I personally love my speakers and subwoofer, high-end headphones are a great alternative to the heart-stopping power I get for people who want a bit more privacy or need to not disturb the neighbours. I personally use a pair of Sennheiser HD595 headphones, which sit towards the top of the Sennheiser line just before the point where they hit the 'uber expensive' area. They don't have the gimmicks of surround sound (kind of pointless for people wanting quality headphones IMO) or a microphone, but the pure quality is immense. 'You can hear the breath of the singer between lyrics' immense. Do some equalisation (or just play with the bass/treble, which is a simplified equaliser (EQ)) and you got yourself bst sound evr~~~. Steppenwolf
Seriously why not? Listening to music is one of the main things that i do on my PC. Why not spent a little more money on something that you appreciate? People pay thousands of euros for a fast gaming PC and then use some crappy 15 euro headphones. Doesn't make sense. A quality headset does the immersion in games a bigger favor then the fastest gfx card.
Rick_D
I have a bad ass speaker setup for when I want to piss the neighbours off; and my logitech headphones for when I play games or just want to chill to some music etc. H20 the headphones don't look amazing but they are comfortable (wear them all day at work, and then at home too - I have two pairs lulz), the sound is contained (you don't have that tinny sound coming out and pissing everybody else off, even when it's LOUD). The sound quality is superb, honestly is - I have used 100 pound headphones meant for music studios and such that aren't a patch on these things; and the microphone quality is fantastic - it's like a perfect all-round headset. I'm not a spokesman for logitech or anything but I've bought and tried so many different headsets in an effort to get good sound quality in games, music, film, along with a good quality mic. I have experimented with desktop mics and proper headphones, I have tried other logitech headsets and even headsets that claim to be 'built for gaming' and I've yet to find a headset that matches the usability and versatility of this headset. If anyone can hsow me something better I am totally open to trying it out but I stand by my belief that I've tried just about everything there is (in a reasonable price range) and this is about the best you're gonna get. insta
I just went and bought a pair of Beyerdynamic dt 990 because of this thread. Also I was tired of my boring Koss portapro (which I can now use on my ipod instead )
Steppenwolf
Now you need a soundblaster x-fi if you haven't already and your music/games/movies will sound gorgeous.
