Steppenwolf Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 Hey! I just came back. I'm pretty drunk thakns to Intel (free beer and food). Here are some imprwessions anyways: (BMW Formula One car) (Thai food and beer. The beer tasted better then expected) (Gordan Freeman spottet) (Robotron KC 85/2 - old east german computer) (a south koreans wet dream...) (some fun for retards) (...) (the area that connects all the convention halls) (EA with a new design for their area this year) (Sony won the competion of coolest and best styled area this year imo) (play Playstation 3 while taking a dump and everybody is watching you. sony makes it possible) (Hookers not far away!) (i havent tested this but it seemed a cool idea for a area) (Impression from outside the convention centre) (Cod4 PR hummer) (Leipzig Main Trainstation from outside. one of the biggest in europe) Quote
Rick_D Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 nuts you will have to shout me next time this comes around and I will come to germany; I have been looking for an excuse to visit baracuda so this will do ;D Quote

FrieChamp Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 GC - Getting bigger and bigger That Halo 3 wheel looks crazy. Sad that I didn't make it this year lol @ the Saturn ads "GG! HF!" Quote
Steppenwolf Posted August 23, 2007 Author Report Posted August 23, 2007 I found the professionals day better then last year. They managed to filter the gamer kiddies that still were around in masses last year. So it was a lot more chilled out. I also liked that you could get a beer everywhere and even for free on the right places (Intel). Last year it was a real problem. Only thing that i didn't liked was the trend that companys shows their stuff only in private or only every 2 hours. I thought that already ruined E3. On the professionals day at least everybody should be able to see everything. Game that i liked the most was Farcry 2. It looked awesome especialy when you burn down things in it (looks extremely realistic). Crysis (which also looked awesome) will find a real competitor in it imo. Quote
MrH2o Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 Holy god on a fish stick!!! I want that Gordon statue, is it for sale? more info please, more info!!!!!!!! Quote
Steppenwolf Posted August 23, 2007 Author Report Posted August 23, 2007 Don't think so. Was a exhibition of statues from older Games Conventions. Quote

skdr Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 Steppen, you were too drunk to play TF2? Quote
Steppenwolf Posted August 23, 2007 Author Report Posted August 23, 2007 I played Portal and didn't get it TF2 i have only seen other people playing it. Tbh one day at the GC isn't enough anymore. It has reached a size that you can't see/try everything on one day. Quote
Hourences Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 http://www.gamedesign.be/Hourences/leip ... ipzig1.htm http://www.gamedesign.be/Hourences/leip ... ipzig2.htm http://www.gamedesign.be/Hourences/leip ... ipzig3.htm 1 and 3 feature my travel, so for those not interested in a lot of trains, skip to 2 straight away. Couple of great games down there, although I do have to say that I expected a lot more of some games than what they turned out to be. What I also noted is that if you walk through the whole convention and you play game after game, you really notice how incredibly unoriginal like 90 percent of all those games are. It all looks alike, it all plays alike. The whole convention was also much too german orientated imo and that really hurts the international character of the show. Its an international audience yet every single guy who starts a chat with you does so in German, some even refuse to talk on if you ask for English. All flyers, magazines and games that are given away are German, etc... The only guy that started in English right away was a guy from Max/Autodesk. Besides that the show was really cool though. Plenty of nice games and a good source for some inspiration Quote
Steppenwolf Posted August 23, 2007 Author Report Posted August 23, 2007 Yea i found it a bit strange that everybody started talking in german with me. At least on the professionals day they should expect the majority of the people to be english speakers. The info material etc. should be bilingual. Quote
Rick_D Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 well the germans are so open to speaking english, they all learn it and embrace it and enjoy speaking it. owait that's the dutch, germans hate english Quote
