Mazy Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 Well, I'm pretty sure IGN states that its not an average score, since some elements can weigh in more heavily than others. Plus I'm sure that....Imagine Party Babiez....Babyz, is a fairly competent game as well Quote

mjens Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 ":3bgojagd]7.7, Mmmmm! The review summary is basiclly: "GREAT BUT ITS NOT GTA" THANK GOD IT'S NOT A CLONE OF BORING GTA btw. HP - predator chopper: Quote
Buddy Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 Yeah he meant Long Tall Sally but you're on point there. Quote
dux Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 I think predator jungle music would stick out a bit in a 40's urban crime game And since predator has come up I now expect d3 to suddenly de-cloak in this topic and mention something about slack jawed faggots. Quote
Buddy Posted August 26, 2010 Report Posted August 26, 2010 You're all a bunch of slack jawed faggots. Quote
D3ads Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 ":29x5rrdp] What the cunting fuck is this shit?! Why are all the Mafia II reviews complaining that there's no sandbox gameplay.. the original wasn't a sandbox game and this was never intended to be either! Agrrrh, Mafia is about storyline and atmosphere, not being able to hijack an icecream van and drive it to a remote cliff just to blow it up or some such shite... YARRRGHH!! PS: "If it bleeds, we can kill it." Quote
dux Posted August 27, 2010 Report Posted August 27, 2010 Loving it so far I feel incredibly christmasy at the moment. Its New York, its snowing, its the 40s and Frank Sinatra is singing Christmas stuff on the radio Quote
Buddy Posted August 28, 2010 Report Posted August 28, 2010 Finished it today, around 10 hours on hard. I have mixed feelings, it feels as if that they cut a bounch of missions, it makes the plot feel rushed in the first 2/3 of the game and at the very end it seems a lot more continuos and coherent if anything. Gameplay is good in general. Audio/Video is amazing. I don't whine about not being able to 100 side missions (you can sell cars though) but i really miss the freeride mode from the first game. My biggest issue with this game is that when it felt that the game started for good i was about to finish it :S I still recommend it to anyone though, don't get me wrong, i'm a Mafia1 fanboy caught up in the M2 hype so i'm not completely satisfied. Quote
syver Posted August 29, 2010 Report Posted August 29, 2010 I just finished it too. I agree with everything in the above post. There was also some unnecessarily dull/boring missions that took up a lot of the game time just to push the story, especially driving and melee combat. Chapter 14 gave me chills, even though I saw it coming as soon as I heard the music on the radio. Quote
Mazy Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 By the way, this game has the worst checkpointing/saving that I've seen in years. Have a 10 minute stretch of gameplay without any saves at all even if it seems to have plenty of situations that would be ideal for saving (Although it often says "Saving" in the upper right corner, which is a blatant lie), and then litter it with a few cheap deaths here and there. It's probably all great on PC since you can probably save where ever, but for a console game I simply find it unacceptable. Anyway, nearing the end of the game. Quote
Buddy Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 PC version has the same checkpointing, i did stumbled upon few annoying checkpoint loadings myself, wasn't that much of a problem for me. Btw the Free Ride mode has been added by some modder so for those who finished the game and would like to cause mayhem then google it. It has a patch/update already too. Quote
skdr Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 Finished it yesterday and I enjoyed it very much. Loved the Mafia 1 cross-scene during the final missions of the game and overall the missions were really varied. Too bad about the autosave/checkpoint thing. I ragequit few times during some of the missions when you were threw back to the start. Quote
Mazy Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 Finished it yesterday as well. I love the vibe and atmosphere this game has, but the core gameplay left a lot to be desire in my opinion. That said, then I don't regret playing through it, more open world games in different time periods is definitely something we could use more of. Quote
dux Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 I cant bring myself to finish it. I'm at the point where I have to make back the money through either robbing shops or bringing back cars to the the scrap heap. Bllleeeggghhghghg. Quote
