Skjalg Posted August 10, 2007 Author Report Posted August 10, 2007 Mine is bigger than yours skjalg lol, how much bigger? and I refuse to put my hdd in raid Quote
Thrik Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Yeah, bit of a pain that whole 4GB in 32-bit Windows thing. I'd buy another 2GB right now if I didn't have to totally reinstall with 64-bit instead. Nice computer, though. Welcome to the world of superb frame rates. Quote
Skjalg Posted August 11, 2007 Author Report Posted August 11, 2007 hehe thanks, and yes, I'm going to try out Vista x64 As long as hammer runs, i dont really care how it works^^ Quote
hessi Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 well ican tell you x64 is kind of a pain in the ass. all drivers and apps seem kind of fucked. i got so many crashes and instant reboots. hilarious! though my old USB TV device has no vista or x64 drivers i cant watch TV anymore. why 4GB? well did you ever paint a 4096x4096 texture in photoshop with around 100 layers? no? then try to with 2GB! saving the file takes like 1 minute and HDD is swapping all the time! I thought those problems were mainly just "oh its brand new" kind of bugs.. Most of that shit must've been straightened out by now? or? Quote
hessi Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 well i got all updates and stuff, but maybe it is just "windows" itself try out and watch for your self. Quote
Thrik Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 It's worth noting that Vista 64-bit has significantly better support than the XP iteration, which as far as I'm aware is still plagued with various things not having drivers released (since the manufacturers have to put out XP 64-bit specific drivers) and general oddities. If it's XP 64-bit you're talking about I'd advise just not bothering. It's become kind of a Windows ME of 64-bit operating systems. Quote
R_Yell Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 Quad core = ultra fast compile times Very nice system Skjalg. Quote
Sentura Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 you could have gotten that system for about 50% of the price if you had gotten all the parts seperately and assembled it yourself... also keep in mind that a 500w psu with that system will only hold up for so long, so you might have to replace it in a year or 18 months. i'd have gone for a 650w to be on the safe side.
