Grinwhrl Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 looks awesome, and screw Warcraft 3 Quote
Taylor Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Suprised they went with the cartoony look already associated with Warcraft but I imagine they're not going to make another RTS one of those anyway. Which is kind of a shame for people like me that find the RTS genre rather boring but enjoyed Warcraft because of all the non-RTS bits. I'm going to have to check this out when it hits though. Quote
Zacker Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Wow, these new screenshots are really impressive! I like the first shot in particular but all of them look great. My only worry is that some of it look pretty high poly which might give some performance issues. Blizzard has always pulled of games with reasonable machine requirements though, so they will probably do so again. Quote
e-freak Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 looks a lot like warcraft 3 with "DX10 Px4.0 Normalmapped" (To use Hessis Signature Description) and a lot too much on the way. Doesn't do it for me but it looks ok. Quote
Warby Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 the "love per pixel ratio" is high on this one "lppr" is a registered trademark of warbyopolis enterprise Quote
FrieChamp Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 I need to admit, after the first wave of excitement, immediately after the announcement, my appeal to the game has somewhat worn off. The single player campain shots with the 3D avatars looked quite refreshing, also I'm curious how the "unit purchase system" will work out, but is anyone else getting bored of the cartoony look in Blizzard games? It's not just that, but they could have at least put slightly more effort into redesigning the units...I mean, there "is no redisign" visible on most units and structures to be honest, it is mere 2D - 3D conversions. Graphics wise, as far as RTS games go, I think "World in Conflict" is on top: http://www.worldinconflict.com/uk/# Nevertheless SC2 is most likely going to be good fun, but if this will be just because Blizzard rehashes the orginal StarCraft gameplay with no or only little new tactics, I would feeld cheated. Pericolos0 Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 whoa i cant disagree more frie. Sure it looks cartoony but not world of warcraft cartoony imo. that world of conflict look great, but design wise i find that pretty boring actually. Whats exactly interesting about the military realism it's trying to recreate? the only thing i like is the colorful sunsets and lighting they use in their screenshots. Theres probably something wrong with me, i think starcraft 2 is graphically one of the coolest, greatest looking games to come. As warby said, they gave every pixel a great amount of love. I love that for example the terrain textures arnt just tiling photos, but that there has been real creativity behind everything. I'm probably just a color junkie, but I know that the masses are going to love this, not only because its a sequel to starcraft, but because the graphics just look so appealing, Blizzard are geniuses. KoKo5oVaR Posted August 10, 2007 Author Report Posted August 10, 2007 Just to add a little something about world in conflict quickly, i think it will be a great game just because of the fact that the dev team is able to do trailers like that : http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=HYaTPsIHkZA Quote
ifO Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 I like the environments and the lighting effects etc, I think they are beautifully done. I think its just the sci-fi lego-block units I don't rly like. I don't really like space-sci-fi-future-crap in general, especially that lame warhammer space-marine look of all the armoured stuff. D3ads Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 I think it looks superb, the cartoon style makes it more faithful to the original look of the game. Quote
