KoKo5oVaR Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 It has to be posted I just love the redneck look of the SCV Quote
⌐■_■ Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Looks good, but I don't respect the cartoony feeling it gives me. Quote
Thrik Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 I quite like the cartoon-ish look, and it'll probably scale well too. That said, it looks a bit busy for me. I like my RTS games a bit more focused rather than swarming with a million units (lol Zergs). I suspect this won't be a game I'll enjoy much, though I'll inevitably get it. Quote
PhilipK Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 I really dig the looks. It's more cartoonish but still it sure doesn't lack any detail and the style is well matched. Quote
JeanPaul Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Graphically it doesnt look as good as other RTS's I have seen Quote
Erratic Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 I'm really digging SCII more and more with every update. Initially I was skeptical about the art direction but those feelings have been pretty much abolished. Also, siege tanks in non-siege mode = best looking unit ever. Quote
Pingu_swe Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 I like it, except the marines, zerglings and zealots. All core units don´t look like I think they should. Marine - The white thing at the gun annoys me and they sheild is a nono. They should look like the artwork. Zergling - Look like something between a wasp and grasshopper. I want something more like the creeps in starship troopers. Zealot - They look so zilly instead of the powerfull look they should have. Quote
mabufo Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 I was never really able to get into RTS games. There was always too much going on at once for me to keep up with. Quote
Pericolos0 Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Graphically it doesnt look as good as other RTS's I have seen I think it looks way better than anything i have seen yet. Awesome design and detail, no stupid overuse of effects or crappy terrain texturing which seems to happen in every other rts. Quote
Thrik Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Depends on the RTS, mabufo. I'm very similar to you in that I also don't really enjoy them when they're absolutely teeming with activity, but it really depends on the game. Supreme Commander for example literally has hundreds of different types of units, and hundreds of them the map at once. I simply can't relax and have a good time with such an intensive amount of stuff going on. Command & Conquer on the other hand also allows you to build as many units as you want, but there're less of them so it's much more manageable. Indeed, big clusters of the same unit are almost like a single unit. Then you've got Company of Heroes which drills down into a much closer perspective, and gives you more control over individual units but you have much less of them as a result. I find this the epitome of enjoyable RTS gaming, with the tactics/strategy potential being really fun because of the closeness. You can of course go even further into Commandos territory, where you basically control five guys throughout the whole game and have to keep them alive. Even detection is practically mission failure, making it like an RTS Metal Gear Solid. Quote
KoKo5oVaR Posted August 9, 2007 Author Report Posted August 9, 2007 Yeah, in terms of design/colors etc.. it kicks your nuts up to the space ! It seems so slick and smooth to play Quote
Thrik Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Yeah, the first shot is my favourite. It's relatively rare to get such vibrant beauty in an RTS. I'm less impressed by the more monotone space-like environments, though. Hopefully plenty of the former! Quote
KoKo5oVaR Posted August 9, 2007 Author Report Posted August 9, 2007 Warcraft 3 engine's still got it Quote
