Taylor
you don't think they care about hl2 - the game? To a certain extent, but I think making a front for modifications is their number one priority.

Mazy
If HL2 is even half as good as HL1 was back in the day, then its gonna be an amazing game No doubt about it
Marcos
omg pls mac! I think HL2 is gonna pwn doom3. Doom3 was boring. The shadow dosent look good, ok. But a game cant be flawless! Also looking forward to Vampire, looks kickass!
2d-chris
you obviously played d3 on a old pc ^^ it's FAr from boring. If you think being scared shitless boring i give up ^__^ Doom3 is designed for certain gamers, it wasnt made to be a complex story with tricky puzzels to solve, that's the biggest mistake when people say it's just a mindless shooter. Where as HL2 have the freedom of pritty much what ever they want to do, which means it will apeal to a larger player base. I think Doom3 was a work of art plus it feels so damn polished. I think it was the perfect balance of story + objective + blowing the hell out of amazing animated enemys. It's like comparing Serious Sam to Halflife, saying one is boring because it's more like a deathmatch is silly, you shouldnt have played the game if you don't like that "sub genre" of FPS's but im guessing you downloaded it anway. Taylor
I really liked Doom as well, and it certainly does look very good - no other game (Half-life 2 included) could create such a realistic looking sci-fi atmosphere and people seem to forget the Doom 3 engine is tailored for this purpose when judging it. Half-life 2 creates much better looking open, realistic enviornments because Half-life 2 is supposed to, Doom 3 isn't. People could easily turn that around and exclaim how Half-life 2 can't get the feel of a futuristic base with atmospheric lighting or rival the mapping flexibilities of script and GUI's. Unfortunately most people seem to have low expectations of it and either download it and played the first few levels trying to squeeze as little enjoyment out as possible or don't bother with it at all and look at 2 year old screenshots and say the world looks like it's wrapped in plastic (it's fantastic!). D3adlode
don't bother with it at all and look at 2 year old screenshots and say the world looks like it's wrapped in plastic (it's fantastic!). *ahem* Having played D3 I can certainly say it doesn't look that plastic, maybe a little in places but mostly it's very solid metally looking. kleinluka
take the monsters for example... all plasticy. some people may disagree but to me they really do. I dont think the monsters are supposed to be metallic either
