It should be "a sketch", if subject (was it "subject"? anyway that main word) would start with vowel or adjective in front of it which starts with vowel then you'd write "an"

With your bandana, on the top of the forehead keep the white, but on the bottom and very very top of it slighlty darken it to a light grey so that top of the forehead looks like it is catchibng more light. That'll give you a lot more depth in the head and look more organic.
