quotopsy Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 ok I've been texturing for a week... fun stuff . sssseeewww... whats wrong? Quote
curman Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 Don't use Angelfire.. That looks really funny though, I laughed pretty hard. Quote
quotopsy Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 you laughed becaus it sucked bad or becaus the angelfire icon thingy came up instead of the texture? and if not angelfire... what should I use? Quote
curman Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 Cause of the Angelfire logo.. Here use my FTP don't junk it up with crap though. http://www.northeastpaintball.org Quote
quotopsy Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 here it is... might i remind you guys ive started texturing like... last sunday so i need some pointers here Quote
Skyshi Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 Not bad! The structure does not look very realistic, but interesting. A bit more grain and reducing the current structure would work better IMO. But a really nice result for only 1 week! And please don't place the tear at the border - seems as this will cause tile-probs Quote
quotopsy Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 i was just too tired to look at the old one so i just started over... i think the cracks look better in this one but I was'nt able to put a big ass tear (I know it wont tile but hey... look at the original) like in the first one... any suggestions? A bit more grain and reducing the current structure would work better IMO. uhm... what does that mean exactly? Quote
Gman Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 /me smashes Bic-B@ll with teh Hammre (oh, rub it in, why don't ya... ) Well, I'll look for a better tutorial on metal, and when I get the desired effect, I will update my texture over the old one... (so as not to make this thread heavier for no reason) quotopsy, nice tex! It reminds me more of a xen-ish wall though. I dunno why (But then again, what do I know? ) And Skyshi, I think the original texture Isn't meant to tile.... It also has a crack in it... ___ Cheers! -edit- Nice! The newer version looks much more... um... concrete wall-ish... Suggestions... hmm, maybe try adding the center crack... but either way, it's a pretty sexy texture Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 /me smashes Bic-B@ll with teh Hammre (oh, rub it in, why don't ya... ) what did i do? that was the first time ive ever tried to make brushed metal, what i did was made a new channel, rendered noise, motion blurred and then went to a normal layer, filled it with 7f7f7f (gray) and did lighting effects, messed with the contrast, added noise, sharpened, and then motion blurred again Quote

Dranore Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 Please for the love of Source, make a webpage for these textures and the ones that havent' been done yet. mapcore.net/hlretex/ or something... seems like a worthy use of webspace to me. -Dranore Quote
Term Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 make a webpage for these textures and the ones that havent' been done yet. Aaah, c'mon... how many textures have been redone in this thread, 40, maybe 60? HL.wad alone counts over 3000 textures and it's highly unlikely we will ever get together more than 100-200, at least not in this thread. As I said before, I still wonder who came up with the idea to redo all textures from hl.wad for some sort of "Hires HL"... but I still doubt this idea is anywhere close to being realistic. Quote
Dranore Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 It's not that unrealistic. There's a quake retexturing project. Within a given timeframe perhaps... but by NOT making a site for it... it facilitates the not getting it done aspect... It takes Wally a bried matter of time to batch dump all the wad images to jpg's. -Dranore Quote
Term Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 Well, I'm not saying it's impossible... I just doubt it will happen here in this thread (no offense to any of the contributors). Redoing all of the original textures will require some sort of organisation and people willing to dedicate an enormous amount of time to it - I can't see a lot of people in here willing or able to do that. Beside that, I'm not sure whether the old maps will look that much better with our new textures. The style and quality varies so much that a map with a mixture of textures from 20+ artists will likely look poop, however brilliant the single textures might be. Quote
