FMPONE Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 First question on what will be a long and torturous journey: why the fuck are my refs being blurred/pixellated like this ? O_o (I'm not actually trying to model the moon for the curious) Quote

O_o (I'm not actually trying to model the moon for the curious) Might just be the window settings. Try rendering it out and it should actually render at its correct original resolution. I haven't fiddled with Max's settings in a while but I'm sure there's probably an option for the window like "No Downsampling" or something Quote
Rick_D Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 You have the texture resolution very low. You need to go to.. *sigh* gotta load max I can't remember the exact commands off-hand. Main Menu Bar (file, edit, etc) - Customize -> Preferences Viewports (tab) Choose Driver. Make sure you have Direct X set as your default driver (choose 9.0 if your card isn't shitty). --Direct3D Device: Hardware --Direct 3D Use Flags: Release You will most likely need to restart Max at this point, if it doesn't force you to, hit Ok and jump down to: Configure Driver - make it look like this: Hit Ok and restart max. Your textures are now less pixelated but will still not be as sharp as a render or ingame. Hit F9 to do a quick render and get an idea of how your textures _really_ look. You'll notice that the background is always black, damn that's annoying! Press 8 and change the background colour to a nice medium gray. Enjoy! Quote
