Ginger Lord Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 I agree on the staleness of the games. Mario Strikes is a welcome breath of fresh air and as I got interupted playing Zelda midway through it (pesky final projects) I'm getting back into that now. Plus whenever we were/are drunk out comes Wii Sports and Wario Quote
fonfa Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 oh wario.... good lord i left my friends house with my jaw in pain because we laughed so hard... i dont even wanna know how fun it is when drunk, i'd probably become an alcoholic if i did Quote
Taylor Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Contrary to this, everyone I know with a Wii hardly plays the thing since there's basically nothing decent out for em over here right now. Well except Mario Charged Strikers which is top Pretty much everyone I work with at Sony has a PS3 except me (too skint) but this is no surprise since we were sold em internally at a discount. Outside of work I know only 1 person with a PS3 at the mo, pretty much everyone I know into gaming is hooked up on the 360, 'cause of the great range of games on it. But yeah back to the point Wii is getting horribly stale right now, there's just not enough quality stuff to play yet. Well glad to see I’m not the only one. I know a lot of people with a Wii, but they don’t play it anymore because once the Wii-Remote shtick wears off it’s a collection of poor games with poor graphics (one said it was "just a hat for his xbox"). As a party console it’s vaguely enjoyable, but when drunk we just got pissed off at Wario’s seemingly random winning and losing criteria. I know a few people with a PS3, and every single one of them is a ‘gamer,’ the only person who I know that’s into the Wii in a big way is quite the opposite. If I was to get one, it would purely be for the new Zelda game. Anyway, verging off-topic here. I think the original article is a dirty lie. Quote
Fletch Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 I play my Wii at least a few times a week, usually grinding through various party games to unlock stuff, or to play Wii Sports Tennis. While I do lament the lack of good single player games, I think it will pick up in the near future. But the Wii certainly has more good games than the PS3 at this point. One can only play so much Resistance. One of these days I need to break down and buy a 360... but I'm too lazy. Quote
Defrag Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 If you break down and buy one, it will respond in kind (by breaking down). Quote
Thrik Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Pretty much every console has a drought of titles upon launch, resulting in console dust -- it's the price early adopters pay. Surely we haven't all forgotten how everybody was lambasting the 360 for its huge lack of compelling titles during its earlier days? That said, the Wii does seem to be experiencing a slightly longer drought than normal, which I suspect is a combination of a lot of publishers initially being quite sceptical about the whole Wii concept and the hardware not being up to scratch for 360/PS3 multi-platform releases without a lot of effort. I think any serious gamer who doesn't prefer PC games will end up getting a 360 or PS3 simply for the greater game variety and visually rich experience. I know I will, and I do prefer PC games and have a Wii. Quote
Ginger Lord Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 I don't think the drought is that bad, I've lived through the N64 and GameCube droughts Quote
Thrik Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Well, I suppose it depends on your taste. I've personally not seen any compelling titles released for the Wii since the launch, and that was Twilight Princess which was more a GameCube game than not. The party/casual games wear thin way too quickly for me, and I'm sure a lot of Nintendo enthusiasts are slightly ashamed to admit they think the party/stuff is a bit shit too even though on paper they love the idea. Granted, some excellent-looking titles are on their way such as Mario Galaxy, Smash Bros Brawl, and inevitably Mario Kart (the first-party games are mostly why I buy Nintendo consoles, much like one might buy a Mac ). The superb games that will come are almost guaranteed to make the purchase worthwhile, but as usual I'm feeling the grind as an early adopter. Even back on the N64 we had GoldenEye after a few months (I think) and various decent titles like Turok to pass the time with. Quote
fonfa Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 yeah, but don't worry, the drought will end, for every console soon, i hope. it really depends on your taste. i didn't like gears of war, so, there's not much stuff that really interests me on the 360. just viva piñata and the upcoming beautiful katamari Quote
Psy Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 People weren't expecting the Wii to become so successful so now developers are realising that it's doing well and can rake in lotsa monies - Which is why there is a drought. Off-Topic: My copy of RE4 Wii got dispatched last night but GUESS WHAT! The fucking Royal Mail decide to have a strike today which means I have to wait longer. Quote
Zyn Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 Sony is a wagon. Every other developer is the horse pulling it. Where ever they go, Sony follows. PS: I wrote this on my Wii. Quote
Psy Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 The Wii browser would be almighty if it had keyboard support. It's fine for looking at forums and pr0n. Quote
