KungFuSquirrel
http://www.button-masher.net/index.php Check it. Finally have broken out of my 600px wide shackles and oh is it glorious. This design is even w3c compliant and finally table-free! Pow. I haven't finalized the colors yet (some are still stolen from lunaran's new design, haha), and old news posts are broken by some new formatting, but how's the direction thus far? dux
I like it. Simple clean and easy to navigate. Reminds me, I should redo mine soon.
Bic-B@ll
what colors?
Taylor
Looks nice and clean, writing might be a bit small for most people but I guess it’s okay for the clientele you expect to visit. Conforming to w3c is sucking up to The Man.

Thrik
It's pretty good for what it's intended to be, but I'd recommend somehow splitting up the columns a bit better. It's kind of hard on the eye to differentiate them quickly at the moment, which could easily be fixed with some well-chosen colour (perhaps lighten the grey for the backgrounds of two of them, or use a vivid colour for headers, etc). The overall direction reminds me of Total Spore. You might want to look there for some inspiration since it's a good example of the (increasingly rare) light on dark style. Sentura
i like it too. it reminds me of an upgraded version of my own site, which i havent updated in years. white on black = win. black on bright colors hurt my eyes.

hessi
nice page layout, but it needs 2 things: - more colors - a link to my website
ReNo
I rather like it. Not too sure about the right aligned, plain text header though - that looks really boring and basic to me. I wouldn't suggest anything hugely elaborate as that would be at odds with the rest of the design, but I think something a little more remarkable than plain text would be nice. KungFuSquirrel
what colors? they are indeed awfully dark. there's a nice subtlety on my monitor (dell 2407) but even on my 2001fp it looks completely monotone, so I'll have to fiddle a bit yet. Conforming to w3c is sucking up to The Man. It really is, but it seems a novel idea to me to actually try to do this right instead of my usual hackjobs. I wonder if just brightening the news post background would help? It just struck me as you said that and I looked at it again I never intended to leave those black. - a link to my website ohnoes! D: I'll be sorting out those links quite a bit more later, don't worry. I just recently shifted to having them only on the news page so I'll be able to cram in quite a few more people without bloating any of the portfolio content when it goes in. I rather like it. Not too sure about the right aligned, plain text header though - that looks really boring and basic to me. I'm a little torn on this, too. It's minimalist, which I like, but it is bland. Not sure if I'm good enough to make a non-suck logo, but now that you mention it I have a couple ideas I might try.
von*ferret
database driven? I like the new style. Lots of text and I find it pretty organized!
KungFuSquirrel
same as it's always been, at least since I moved off PHL. I was pleasantly surprised how well the news ported over, save for the paragraph spacing issues. Hopefully I can be smart enough about the other sections to make it just as easy. Biggest thing I'm trying to wrap my head around is how to split the two sidebars into their own content types using the system I have, and get them to only load on the news page... I might need to teach myself some PHP as well, haha.
Minos
I agree with Thrik, use an slightly lighter color for the posts' background. You could also use a nice font for the title and use an image instead of pure text. Nothing wrong with that, but a nice font (that fits the theme) would make it look a lot better
