e-freak Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Where's the beer on that list? I prefer Grohe Helles Handbrewed or Darmstädter (Helles Export or Braustübl). But that's both local Breweries (you may know Darmstädter but Grohe is that small no one north of frankfurt knows it ^^) The best Weizen I drank so far was the Prinz Luitpold Weißes from Bavaria (I drank it in Günzburg) The best bottled Pils you can get all over germany is Kulmbacher Mönchshof in the Blob-Bottles What every beer drinker should consider is a trip to the cloisters of south-hesse and bavaria, e.g. Groß-Heubach - 666 Steps to climb and then get a monk-hand-brewed Schwarzbeer with Beerbread and Ham - best thing in the world. Spellbinder Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Iwas supposed to vote Carlberg but i missed and voted Guiness. My favorite beer though is Krombacher. Quote
dux Posted June 16, 2007 Author Report Posted June 16, 2007 Screw you guys I don't know of any of your crazy german beers. I put down whats drank around here. HENCE THE OTHER FOR THE CRAZY GERMANS. Quote
FrieChamp Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Fosters, Guiness, Newcastle? Not my style...Heineken and Carlsberg are alright, I don't know the others. But the fact that no German brand is up there is quite week indeed guys! On the other hand, every frickin stain on the map with a bus stop and a church, also has a brewery here, so local influences definitely play a role when you talk about beers. e-freak: My friend's dad always has a crate of Prinz Luitpold at home, but I don't like it that much. I drink it, just like Paulaner, but these beers are too sweet for me to drink it in large amounts. Erdinger is a different story..I know - "tv beer boooh" - but it is my favourite one probably. As far as Pils goes - "Herforder Pils" (local brand from my hometown, quite bitter, but not as bad as Jever) and you could get some really good beer in Coburg. I think it was called "Franken Bräu", the bavarians know how to brew beer, you gotta give them that Quote
e-freak Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 FrieChamp - you should seriously consider visiting me in Darmstadt On the other hand - i was going to visit Frankfurt for something game-dev related next year... I've heard next to äppelwoi they drink a lot of good beer as well Quote
Sindwiller Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Heineken ofc you wusses (though I don't drink beer at all ) Quote
Steppenwolf Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Though german beer is good i must say that czech beer is better. Its a shame that Pilsner Urquell or Budweiser (the original, not the american piss water) are not on that list. Thats two famous czech beers that every beer drinker around the world should have at least heard of. Quote

Steppenwolf Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 I dont think they brew Weizen since its bavarian beer and personaly i dont like it anyways. They brew other sorts then Pilsner tho and they are all delicious. Best Schwarzbier (Black beer) imo is Köstritzer. Its also the best german mainstream beer in general in my opinion. Guinness tastes like dog feces in comparison. Quote
ReNo Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Tennants! Actually I hate the stuff, but just felt I should represent the Scots Favourite beer? I dunno really, I'm afraid I'm bit unrefined and tend to drink light, refreshing, mainstream beers like Bud or Beck's. Can't really hack ale's - the local beer festival is the only time I delve into those. Most pale, 5% beers sit well with me - Tiger, Kronenbourg 1664, Heineken, Peroni, Stella, whatever. I go for the case with the deal on it Quote
twiz Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Tennants! Actually I hate the stuff, but just felt I should represent the Scots Belhaven is another favorite. A bar near me used to have Belhaven on tap, that was just awesome, but no longer Belhaven is Scottish Quote
ReNo Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Indeed it is, Belhaven brewery is actually only about 10 miles from where I live Quote
Grinwhrl Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Alexander Keith's gesss, should be in that list :/ Quote
