Scinbed Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 DM-1on1-Aerowalk Recommended Players: 2 Description: Remake of the classic Quake map of the same name. Original layout by Preacher. Authors: Slainchild & RubberChicken Testers: daddy, ioX, kransch, luxxiz, skAven, tewic, ynZ, zeD Credits: Custom textures by evillair. Screenshots: Comments: RubberChicken made the initial UT2004 layout and tested/tweaked it endlessly with some of the top 1v1 players around, until it was perfect. At that point... I was asked nicely to finish it off. So I did. Bonus!!! There will be a SteelSeries sponsored, Aerowalk-only cup running later this month (with prizes!). Click here for more info. Mazy Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 Hmmm, looks very plain for a UT2004 map :G Donno if thats on purpose, but its hardly eye candy Quote
Scinbed Posted June 6, 2007 Author Report Posted June 6, 2007 Correct. Not intended to be eye candy. Only static meshes are the yellow lights and teleporter background pieces... I think it looks polished enough though. Quote
BioPulse Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 It looks nice, but i wouldn't agree on it being finished. The lighting sceme is also a bit boring ,i you'd spice that up with really moody lighting it would do alot of good for such a base map. Sure if it's a port and you want the original concept to be kept alive i can understand that, but there's other thigns besides the brushwork and props that you can improve upon without making the map too different. It would imo make it a bit more interesting. Quote
insta Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 Like the others said, it's not completely drowned in statics and fancy effects, but I actually manage to recognize the areas from the Q3 version, which is something I'm sure the players will appreciate very much. Good job! Quote
Hourences Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 Focus is obviously on gameplay, and it plays well, but then again, you didnt made the gameplay.. Graphics are sober, but solid. It hangs together and there are no weaknesses in the design. Its not ugly to look at either. It would have been cooler if it was your own floorplan, kinda like DavidM DM Lego for UT1. Simple yet rocksolid looks, great gameplay. Quote
Scinbed Posted June 7, 2007 Author Report Posted June 7, 2007 Yes it would have been cooler if it was my own floorplan. I absolutely prefer working on original maps. This was just a quick project I was asked to finish to an acceptable standard (without changing architecture or structure too much, though I did somewhat), and I had a fun time doing it. insta: Yep, the 'players' certainly do appreciate the map. UT2004 1v1 players aren't usually the easiest crowd to please either. Quote
