GAME CONSOLES IN 2007

Chertsey, U.K. - November 21st, 2006 - Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:ERTS) and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announced that the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix™ videogame is in development. The game is scheduled for a July 2007 release to coincide with the Warner Bros. Pictures film based on J.K. Rowling's fifth book of the same title.

"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the first in the franchise that we have developed for the next generation consoles," said Harvey Elliott, Executive Producer at EA UK. "Together with current generation versions, we are creating an immersive and, above all, faithful Harry Potter experience that will both accurately reflect the world showcased in the film and also delight fans of all ages."

The close and synergistic relationship between book, film and videogame is more defined in the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix videogame than ever before. Players will be able to explore the many key locations within Hogwarts in minute detail, each one a visual match to its film equivalent, while being engrossed in the thrilling adventures outlined in the rich narrative of the book.

In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry returns for his fifth year of study at Hogwarts and discovers that much of the wizarding community has been denied the truth about the teenager’s recent encounter with the evil Lord Voldemort. Fearing that Hogwarts' venerable Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, is lying about Voldemort's return in order to undermine his power and take his job, the Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge, appoints a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher to keep watch over Dumbledore and the Hogwarts students. But Professor Dolores Umbridge's Ministry-approved course of defensive magic leaves the young wizards woefully unprepared to defend themselves against the dark forces threatening them and the entire wizarding community, so at the prompting of his friends Hermione and Ron, Harry takes matters into his own hands. Meeting secretly with a small group of students who name themselves "Dumbledore's Army," Harry teaches them how to defend themselves against the Dark Arts, preparing the courageous young wizards for the extraordinary battle that lies ahead.

With the ability to play multiple characters, including Harry Potter, Dumbledore and Sirius Black, the videogame of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix offers fans the opportunity to wield a wand, explore all around Hogwarts, and experience one of the most exciting and dangerous years in the life of the Boy Who Lived.

Under development by EA's UK Studio, the team behind the worldwide success of the Harry Potter library of games, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is scheduled for release for the Nintendo Wii™, PLAYSTATION®3, Xbox 360™, PlayStation®2, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable), Nintendo DS™, Game Boy® Advance, and Windows PC.

Oppinions on that title (not on Harry Potter ffs) and does anyone know what engine this game runs on?

I think it looks promising graphical and gameplay wise but I wonder how much longer it will be than the other games (The former games could be completed in less than 8 hours all)

For a minute I thought you were some kind of advertising bot :)

I donno, never tried one of the Harry Potter games but tbh then I dont really think much of the Harry Potter movies anyway. Looks alright for a movie based title though. Might pick it up for the 360 in a couple of years when its über cheap so I can harvest the points!

but you do know it's a book series? The movies were lame though the books have been a quite nice read (hey i started reading that series than i was 8 :/ )

admittedly i have never seen the movies or anything, but the graphics look stunning. nice architecture as well, it is sort of inspiring

We looking at the same pictures? I mean, it doesn't look horrible, but it's a long way from stunning. I think the characters in particular look bad - completely at odds with the environment, they stick out and don't look like they belong there at all. They've got that "plaster a photo of the actor on a model and it'll look like reality!" style that so many licensed titles seem to suffer from.

As for the game, it will probably be a decent enough title for what it is, and I'm sure it will sell well and satisfy its target market. Not something that I've got any sort of interest in personally though.

The films and books contained little in the way of giant robots and explosions so I wasn’t too interested in them, but I’ve seen the first two and been assured by friends the others are rather good - so I should stop using the fact they like it as an insult.

The graphics are certainly very nice and it looks to be one of the better “lets grab an IP” products out there. However, and this is going by my aforementioned limited knowledge, the character models don’t seem to represent their film-based characters too well, especially Harry and That Ginger One.

Actually, the movies becomes darker and darker as time passes.

The last one isn't really suitable for young children anymore.
