FrieChamp Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 I watched the movie "The butterfly effect" last night. Yeah. The one with Ashton Kutcher. But for a change the movie he got a role in doesn't suck. The movie is damn good actually. I really recommend it to everybody. Any other opinions of those people who have already watched it? I haven't watched "the timemachine", people who have seen that movie before might not be that much into the story anymore. Quote
Mazy Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 Saw it a while ago, really kickass movie~ Quote
Duff-e Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 i dunno...i put the butterfly effect up there with fight club, the matrix, requiem for a dream and donnie darko all the movies that "make you think"....i know too many people that find the "meaning of life" in these movies and then all of a sudden everyone and their mother is putting "deep" quotes in their XANGA web pages or aim profiles. if the movie is entertaining to you thats cool, but most teenagers are so used to watching "old school" and "scary movie" that they try to start a revolution of retardedness when something actually has a plot. *edit: thats not to say that the movies listed above are BAD....in fact i enjoy quite a few of them. you just need to not have an open mind and be skeptical/criticize everything Quote

What? Maybe I'm just stupid or something but I didn't understand what you're trying to say... Quote
FrieChamp Posted August 25, 2004 Author Report Posted August 25, 2004 He means that a mainstream/hollywood movie doesn't necessarily need to be genius when its plot is more sophisticated than other movies (people at our age would watch nowadays). I think you got a point, but I wouldn't compare TBE with movies like matrix, fight club, sixth sense etc. It isn't a movie which you watch and at some point (most likely near the ending) the story takes a major turn, everything makes perfect sense and you're blown away. TBE's story clears up slowly, step by step, not intending to explain a philosophy with dramatic sequences and heroic quotes. It's just an exciting movie to watch which tries to visualize a possible answer on the frequently asked quesition: "What if I could turn back time?", packed in a convincing story with interesting characters. That's how I see it at least Quote
Duff-e Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 once again frie is the coherent ying to my blabbering yang Quote
