Grinwhrl Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 http://kotaku.com/gaming/pointless/idio ... 263533.php 20th Century Fox have picked up the rights to make a movie based on The Sims, proving once and for all that when it comes to film rights, movie studios are looking at a franchises' bottom line and nothing else. EA's Sims boss Rod Humble: The SIMS has done an interactive version of an old story, which is what it's like to have infinite power and how do you deal with it. Given that that's an old story, you can imagine how easily that would translate to traditional story telling. Rod. Come on. You're not even kidding yourself with that rubbish, let alone the rest of us. The ONLY way this movie would work was if it was about a kid trapped inside a room with no walls as he slowly eats and shits himself to death. And I can't see that one picking up the necessary PG13 rating. Luke Plunkett Fox brings 'SIMS' to bigscreen [Variety, thanks Zizzy!] Oh man, I agree with his title Quote
FrieChamp Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 Tomorrow - Universal picks up rights for Tetris the movie! Quote
Zyn Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 Oh man this is retarded. 2 hours of people walking around, doing everyday chores, communicates with some strange marsian jibberish language and days go by by the minute. And then comes the sitcom. "Oibluajefjupji? - Flaebubagnueheohuo! *pre-recorded audience laughter*". My bet's on Jean Claude Van Damme as main character in The Sims! Hey, he said yes to Street Fighter... Quote
Quakis Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 I wonder how hard studios are trying to get the rights to make movies based on Half Life? Hell even Counterstrike? Quote
Sindwiller Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 Tomorrow - Universal picks up rights for Tetris the movie! QFT! This is absurd if you ask me. How can you make a movie about the SIMS? You could just do a movie about a random, retarted family. Quote
Section_Ei8ht Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 Yet nobody wishes to embrace the roots and churn out Pac-Man: The Motion Picture? Quote
Sentura Posted May 26, 2007 Report Posted May 26, 2007 this is preposterous. but then again so are most movie studios Quote

merkaba Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 If they make a movie out of The Sims, then in the same vein of thought I demand that they make a video game out of The Passion Of The Christ. Quote

Taylor Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 Is your avatar from that Perfect Cherry Blossom comic? If they make a movie out of The Sims, then in the same vein of thought I demand that they make a video game out of The Passion Of The Christ. Spearing Jesus with the Wii-Remote is fun for all the family. Quote
