.bsp Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 Some of you may know me from other communities, most just by my recent introduction post in another area. I am the owner/administrator of a (relatively) new map website. http://www.militantfetus.com We showcase maps from all games, and try to only give a solid lineup of the 'best of the best' with a bit of our own personal flavor thrown in for good measure. We are sparse on content, well because frankly, as users we are sparse on worthwhile content. Most maps these days have degenerated into symmetry infused pieces of dev texture gun game crap, but those that are truly great do stand out and thats what we give our time/effort to, the actual 'great' maps. That being said, we do lead actual lives and cannot possibly know every map in existence, nor keep up with them all. What maps do you guys feel deserve extra attention? Surely we've missed something, and i'd love some extra feedback on what you feel should be included. Throw some names/links at me, I definitely am open to community feedback and ideas. -Aaron- Quote
FMPONE Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 quick answer, anything from: http://www.mapcore.net/forums/viewforum.php?f=24 Quote
hessi Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 i have to reopen the maps menu everytime i chose a subcategory -> don't like i see de_wanda and de_corse -> do like your site has a better kick off than the other one that we were recently discussing. i hope you enjoy mapcore too. Quote
.bsp Posted May 24, 2007 Author Report Posted May 24, 2007 @ hessi : That's a bug right now with how the tables are made, everything on the site is dynamic through MySQL, and doing any sort of 'frames' like feature is a pain i n the ass. It was one of my gripes also, my coder is looking into it as we speak. Also, yes those two maps are up there, but since you're the author to one of them, heres a bone to pick with you; how come theres a lack of a storyline? Most maps have a setup as to why both teams are doing battle in such a location, but yours (and most) don't. Hook a brother up! As you can see i'm just a lurker, been here a year and this is my second post @ FMPONE : Theres quite a plethora of maps there, but not a very big selection of next gen quality maps. That's why I was asking here for the more obscure things, rather than a link to a repository of maps  -Aaron- Quote
Skjalg Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 I dont see no pirates, vikings and knights II category! shaaame on youuuu!!! Quote
.bsp Posted May 25, 2007 Author Report Posted May 25, 2007 Categories are dynamic also, they appear once a map has been added for that game Quote
.bsp Posted May 25, 2007 Author Report Posted May 25, 2007 Nah, even though we are fans of many games, we are generally leaning our focus towards the latest and greatest. Quote
.bsp Posted May 25, 2007 Author Report Posted May 25, 2007 Depends on which one you're talking about, I remember playing one that had a white house as a focal point, with some industrial buildings nearby, then there was another map I tried called that and it had railroads and looked nothing like detroit Quote
sk3tch Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 The first one...with the house as one of the bombsites. de_troit...not de_detroit. Quote
.bsp Posted May 27, 2007 Author Report Posted May 27, 2007 I'm surprised by the fact that you're the first person thats said that. The origin of the name is pretty old, it just came up one day trying to think of a good metal band name, I found it funny and used it on various magazine subscriptions (Militant Fetus Productions) then I finally got the chance to register it just recently. Before it was Militant Fetus, it was Art Of War, which was hosted by Planetquake, after they 'accidently' deleted about 4+ years of hardwork and thousands of files, we decided to make our own site and pay for the hosting. It was Antilogic (in conception stage one of the people I was working with stole the name and registered the domain and tried to hold it 'ransom' and wouldn't give it to me unless I paid up $250) so then it turned into Anticitizen (a chapter in hl2), but due to real-life responsibilities and lack of interest from the community, it nosed dived and I pulled hosting. Now about a year after Anticitizen, comes Militant Fetus, a conglomerate of all our know-how and experience in the 'map vault' game. And that's a short history of the site Quote
