Taylor Posted May 19, 2007 Report Posted May 19, 2007 This hasn’t been posted here yet so here goes. Vanguard has been going through months of development hell and its employees were laid off so they could be acquired by Sony Online Entertainment. One guy who was obviously not rehired, was interviewed and had this to say about the game and its development. Some of the stuff is really: :wtf: Quote
Rick_D Posted May 19, 2007 Report Posted May 19, 2007 Yea I read the interview with one of the guys (a day or two after his 'release') and man, if ever there was a company that was totally fucked from day one: it's them. That Brad chap seems like a complete tool as well. Quote
Izuno Posted May 20, 2007 Report Posted May 20, 2007 Yes sad story alll around. The worse thing is that stories with this level of absurdity are all to common in the gaming industry. Quote
Zacker Posted May 20, 2007 Report Posted May 20, 2007 That was one hell of a fucked up story. I feel sorry for all those dedicated developers who worked their ass off for all that time just to be laid off in the end. Quote
FrieChamp Posted May 20, 2007 Report Posted May 20, 2007 Interesting read and I feel sorry for the guy and his co workers, but there is worse. Games getting canned and people being laid off for good, as opposed to a game that was at least finished (or let's better say "released" ) and a studio including its employees being picked up by a bigger company. Although the whole development sounded like an ordeal, this is just one, personal take on it, so I guess you should take it with a grain of salt. Quote
zaphod Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 been there, done that. I'm not sure what kind of sob story is supposed to shock people in this industry any more. These guys were local to me too, I used to run into some of them at starbucks. Quote
FrieChamp Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 An interview has been done with Brad Mc Quaid by the same site by the way: http://f13.net/?itemid=562 PS: 2500 posts Quote

Id rather take the employee's word for it, than some manager's whos used to prettify crap, litteraly crap. Terrible story, a shame this stuff is happening frequently and too people realize that this is not the way to go... Quote
