skdr Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 wow, these links gave me some serious popups annoyance³ i don't dare clickin them again http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ Great looking stuff Zaph! Quote
zaphod Posted August 29, 2007 Author Report Posted August 29, 2007 edited the links, no more popups. I hate image hosts. Quote
Acumen Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 actually i used firefox new links work fine... absolutely love your work. i wish i had your texturing skills to texture my 2 race tracks i hope you'll release another video drivethrough of that track in the future ! Quote
st0lve Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 So, you don't just apply each section onto a 256\512 (or whatever), you actually UV map the entire level onto a single texture map? I didn't understand that UV at all Quote
zaphod Posted August 29, 2007 Author Report Posted August 29, 2007 when you extrude the road along a curve the uv's are uniformly generated in one long strip, all I do is apply the road texture to it and stretch the whole long section of repeating uv's to whatever tiling rate I want. As far as the snow, it's all just planar mapped to tile. Almost all of my textures tile, so there really isn't much UV work to do, just like in hammer. The only things I create skinned unique texture maps for are for individual props. Quote
st0lve Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 Ah you just set the tiling in Maya\Max to like 10, 20 or whatever needed to make it look right? Makes perfect sense now. Quote
zaphod Posted September 4, 2007 Author Report Posted September 4, 2007 spent a good amount of time on chill mountain this weekend, I have most of the landscape fleshed out, soon comes the fun part of placing props! I also fleshed out the tunnel. gotta do that bridge! Quote
Jenn0_Bing Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 Yeah, it's looking better and better . Quote
General Vivi Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 The red and blue contrast wires really make me feel detatched from the scene. perhaps you can try more toned down colors? just my thoughts i gu ess but the rest is looking awesome man. really cool stuff there. Quote
zaphod Posted September 4, 2007 Author Report Posted September 4, 2007 the red is supposed to be the curb. I can see what you are getting at though. Maybe a non-painted concrete colored curb would blend better. Quote
zaphod Posted September 5, 2007 Author Report Posted September 5, 2007 bridge: prop planting tomorrow, yay! Quote
Psyshokiller Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 Looks cool, I totally dig the whole idea of such a racing game. Maybe you could add some icicles hanging down from the bridge. Quote
