zaphod Posted February 18, 2008 Author Report Posted February 18, 2008 ok, bout time to unwrap and texture this guy Quote
zaphod Posted February 19, 2008 Author Report Posted February 19, 2008 hehe, Marshmellow used to be one of childhood nicknames got the body mostly squared away. The white and blue parts will be separately tweakable. Quote
zaphod Posted February 19, 2008 Author Report Posted February 19, 2008 here is what I did today Quote
Pampers Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 hmm, face is not cute enough, rest is fab Quote
Chunks Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 It would be neat if there were multiple facial expressions. Quote
zaphod Posted February 23, 2008 Author Report Posted February 23, 2008 made an extensive blog update about the character http://nimblebit.blogspot.com/2008/02/r ... l-and.html mostly just explaining the process that went into creating and animating it. I also made a fun render of it posed in a little scene, I made it really high resolution so maybe I will find a place online to print me out a couple for fun. small rez medium rez large rez Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 most excellent only thing that bugs me is that there is too much blue reflecting off of the helmet onto the guys chin Quote
zaphod Posted February 23, 2008 Author Report Posted February 23, 2008 or maybe thats not a reflection and he is a half breed smurf / human Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 i didn't know you were basing the characters on yourself Quote
zaphod Posted February 26, 2008 Author Report Posted February 26, 2008 nothing to show, but I just wanted to let everyone know we had our first playtest tonight, which consisted of 3 people driving around champion circuit bashing into each other (as there is no real gameplay yet). But the networking is coming along very nicely! Quote
Ginger Lord Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Awesome, was looking at the Champion circuit again last night and couldnt quite figure out what made it look "wrong" in circuit terms. Then proceeded to watch the World Rally Champ highlights on TV and noticed that on the tarmac sections the racing line is blatently covered in rubber and the less used parts of the track were dirty and dusty. Perhaps some sort of overlay would give an extra depth to the levels. Edit Deux: Make it so when you slide, brake, sharply accellerate it leaves rubber behind. Theres all levels of awesome coming across massive skid marks (ha ha) on tracks where you can see yours and other peoples mistakes and adapt. Quote
zaphod Posted February 26, 2008 Author Report Posted February 26, 2008 yea, we plan to have some skid marks in there for sure. In the corners and stuff I do have a road texture that blends to one with streaks on it, but maybe it's hard to see on the video or the streaks aren't dark enough. btw, the article I mentioned earlier in the thread is finally up on gamasutra: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/3 ... atness.php Quote
zaphod Posted February 27, 2008 Author Report Posted February 27, 2008 also, our development blog got mentioned on this list of "great development blogs" which seems to be getting spread around a bit and should bring us a little more attention, yay! Having this thread in the WIP model gallery forum is starting to seem a bit silly. Maybe a proper thread is in order soon. I'm kind of nostalgic about this one though Quote
