KoKo5oVaR Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 They say it's takes 20 years to the light to go there So with the speed of a modern rocket (approximatly 11500 meters / s) it will take us : (300000000 / 11500) * 20 = 521739 years to go on that planet Not to put your hopes down .. also "It is estimated to have double Earth's gravity" Some changes in our metabolism will have to be made there too, imagine yourself in bed with a woman of 60 kg on that planet.. AND THAT YOUR ARE UNDER Quote
Spellbinder Posted April 25, 2007 Author Report Posted April 25, 2007 I didnt listen to good but they said something between 300-700 years. Quote
Dodger Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 could be covered in oceans - and support life. Quote
Grinwhrl Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 Very interesting, hope to learn more about it Quote
Schmung Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 ppfft, cant we just build a wormhole? Quote
General Vivi Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 nice find indeed would be even more interesting if there was life on it Quote
Rick_D Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 to touch on the gravity - can't we just set off a few dozen nukes nearby and push it further away from the sun? if that's not how gravity works, then fuck you let's set off some nukes there anyway. Quote
von*ferret Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 If we hurry and leave now, we can populate mapcoria. And by that I mean crash our rocket into the surface scattering our skeletons and dust about. Possibly a 'flag' could survive the crash and do the populating for us. Quote
twiz Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 Sending a bunch of computer nerds with the mission of reproducing... probably not the most brilliant idea Quote
Grinwhrl Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 If the gravity is double: Looks like no Americans can go there ten. They would weigh 600 pounds. Quote
dux Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 If the gravity is double: Looks like no Americans can go there ten. They would weigh 600 pounds. HAHA I don't see the point of looking for new planets we can't even fly to sodding mars yet. We've taken 4 billion years to evolve and we're still dumb as shit. Quote
Spellbinder Posted April 26, 2007 Author Report Posted April 26, 2007 We are not far from travelling really fast in space. Theres like tons of theories out there. My guess is that in 20-50 years we will have new fuel and propulsion to get us where we want. Much faster and more effective then today. I like those solar sails. Quote
