leileilol Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 Doom3's light images are still stolen. Quote
KungFuSquirrel Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 yeah, there's no way you get 25 identically named and proportionally sized textures including specific references to d3 content (namely, impflash) without lifting the content from them, even IF id licensed it in the first place, of which the odds are slim to none. edit: or perhaps not, actually... but meh. leileilol Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 nope, kenneth scott did the light images himself and he knows it Quote
ifO Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 Those articles are totally inconclusive. Til we hear from actual developers at those companies or someone who has access to one of those texture packs and can confirm the textures come from them, then I'm not convinced. Quote
Sa74n Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 nope, kenneth scott did the light images himself and he knows it qft. a colleague just told me this as well Quote
ReNo Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 Who's Kenneth Scott? Oh, and Kotaku specifically mentioned the impflash resource in their latest update on the topic - stands for impact flash, apparently. http://kotaku.com/gaming/stalker/the-stalker-team-didnt-steal-nothin-252781.php Quote
michi.be Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 I think the Inquire had this info from a forum. As i browsed the forum threads and newspages as the news went around the web it found a posting where someone speculated that these textures are from Marlin Studios and he also posted a link. in my opinion the "Inquirer" picked it up saw that "valve" and "activision" are on the client list and made a news from it. they had strange news before. its typical for the Inquirer. There is no offical statement since the last news from GSC,id or valve. look at the product page. maril studios doesnt mention impact effects or light-SFX images. you can take look at all the productdescription, thumbs or whatever they have on the page. you wont find anything that looks like the doom/quake4 style lightimages. the stalker patch is still not out althought it was announced to out two weeks ago. i will take a look at the files again if it comes out and its likely that the images are overwritten with other images but the same filename. this is still speculations and every newspage will make their own news from the Inquirer news but this shows that everyone has to stay sceptic what media tells the reader. D3ads Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 The common source in question appears to be Marlin Studios, a company that offers pre-made texture packs in a variety of themes, intended for use in video games and movies. It was me who pointed that out, where's my credit damnit? Quote
Defrag Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 I don't really trust the inquirer's opinion on this. Then again, I don't really trust their opinion on anything. Quote
