FrieChamp Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 Hey girls, I am looking for opinions/experiences with the 5th generation of the iPod, the one that plays videos. I'm debating if I should get one, stick to my old Creative Zen Touch or go the middle way and buy an iPod nano, which is easier to carry around, especially when working out in the gym and stuff. Why does everything have to be so expensive though? The holder for the nano to carry it around your arm or wrist costs like 29,95 € and the fact that you can only recharge power via USB or buy an additional adapter is a bit of a turn off to me as well. Anyway, in case you bought one of those newer iPods - how easy/fast is it actually to get all sorts of videos playing on it? How is iTunes treating you? Any crashes or broken equipment? Other bad experiences or things I should be aware of? Advise is appreciated Quote
Mazy Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 I have an old 60 gig iPod photo which I kinda hope will break down soon I can get myself a new video one or eventually an iPhone (Especially since people always tease me with my current one being massive in physical size D: ). Haven't actually tried a Creative Zen, but I've always thought it was a joke when people bought those. But I've also gotten really used to iTunes now, which works like a charm when you finally get your entire collection properly organized (If it isn't already ). But yeah, as you said it's hardly the right choice if you want the best deal, but it is a quality device so you do get something for your money. I mean I've used my iPod pretty much every weekday for the past 2 years at least 2 hours and usually 4 or more, and I still haven't experienced any battery problems or that kinda stuff you usually hear about. FrieChamp Posted April 16, 2007 Author Report Posted April 16, 2007 The zen touch works pretty well, haven't had any problems with it so far. It can store a lot of mp3's and play them, but that's really it too. No fancy display for being so bulky. It was a lot cheaper than the ipod though.. Then again, as you said, I use my mp3 player all the time. At work, in the tram, when I go shopping...so it would probably pay off spending some more bucks on it. Maybe I should also wait for the iPhone Quote
Nysuatro Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 Buy a pda, you can do 1000 things more with it gaming, watching movies, music, internet, ... Quote
Izuno Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 I have a 60gig video ipod. I love it. I rip a lot of my DVD collection to it and watch it on planes since I travel a lot for my business. If you are a Mac user for some reason it is really easy to rip your DVDs using Handbrake. If you use iTunes on a PC, try PQ-DVD. Not too expensive and it works really well. If you are an uberhaxor I'm sure you can figure it out for free, but I'm to busy to l33thax so I just bought some software. Done. Easy. Quote
Fletch Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 Wait until the iPhone comes out to see if there are new announcements about new models. I'm guessing they're going to port the touch screen elements of the iPhone over to the iPod in time for a massive Christmas season. That way, you can either get the newer ones at normal price, or get the current model as clearance prices. Quote
FrieChamp Posted April 17, 2007 Author Report Posted April 17, 2007 Yea I think I will get an iPod nano and wait with the fancy until the iPhone comes out. Thanks for the input guys! Quote
