Ginger Lord Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Angry Gamer's roving reporters drank a heap of chocolate milk, grabbed a camera and checked out the alleged hotspots of PS3 midnight launch activity in Australia. Here's what we saw. The short version? The worst launch since the Challenger space craft. http://www.angry-gamer.net/ag/index.php ... 0&Itemid=2 Quote

Mazy Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Hah, yikes! Hardly surprising though But at least it seems like they're trying to get some good press in the UK now, handing out free 46" Bravias to the first 100 people at the launch event. Its desperate but at least they're trying http://uk.videogames.games.yahoo.com/6f ... 7736f.html Wouldn't mind having been there at that time, thinking about getting a Bravia atm :G Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 "free tvs" is just a fancy way of saying "not enough people are standing in line which is making us look like fools. here are some free tvs to get more people to stand in line in hopes of getting free stuff so that it will look as if many people are anticipating to buy a ps3" Quote
Meotwister Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 lol i would've love to hear like an interview with someone in line "So how long have you been waiting here for a PS3?" "Uhh I just walked up here like a minute ago.. heard something about free tvs.. this is the ps3 launch?" Quote
Furyo Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Yesterday evening in Paris, Sony had booked a boat near the Eiffel Tower. They expected a lot of people, but only 20 peeps showed up And as they started their run down the Seine river, another boat pulled up with a huge "Xbox 360 loves you" sign Way to go Microsoft hehe Quote
Thrik Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 My train was cancelled this morning so I went into GAME to see if I could get a new copy of MGS: Twin Snakes but couldn't get anywhere near the tills because of the PS3 queue. Quote

Mazy Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Its amazing, after coming home with the PS3, already hella tired and just wanting things to go smoothly, I start unpacking it. After having taken everything out I realize something fairly important is missing; it doesn't come with a component cable. Get this: It doesn't come with a component cable, it doesn't come with a HDMI cable, it comes with a standard AV/Scart cable. WHAT . THE . FUCK!?!??! Yeah Sony, the next generation of HD shit doesn't begin until you launch your console.....and force people to buy the most fundamental of video cables extra. When something cost this much you'd think a simple component cable would be included. I'm still in shock, it is quite simply unacceptable that they're doing this. Motorstorm is quite nice though :G Quote
Ginger Lord Posted March 23, 2007 Author Report Posted March 23, 2007 I'm still in shock, it is quite simply unacceptable that they're doing this. You must have missed the outcry a few months back when they said it doesnt come with those cables  Quote

You must have missed the outcry a few months back when they said it doesnt come with those cables  Yeah, totally missed it. I probably have to put some blame on the guy in the EB where I bought, since I specifically asked him if I would need to get anything extra with it (Given that I almost always have to get extra shit with em, Wifi/Rechargable Battery/Recharge wire for the 360), and he said it didn't have a HDMI cable, but component was fine. He probably knew as much about it as me, but still, damn it pisses me off to open the box to that kinda surprise :G Beh Quote
Thrik Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 It is a bit lame, but it's kind of understandable when you consider that a huge portion of people in EU countries don't have high-definition displays and thus probably wouldn't need component or even know what it is. If they did manufacture and include component cables with all units you'd probably find either the price jumping up slightly (a few Euros more on each unit = millions for Sony) or them charging the same and losing a few Euros more on each unit (again, millions). It's probably more logical to let people who have HD televisions buy the cables and to keep them in plentiful demand. But you're right, they absolutely should have made it clear the unit doesn't come with them and a recommendation of getting one supplied. A bit of a slap in the face if you've gotten home to your HD television with a shiny new PS3, but I definitely wouldn't call it unacceptable. I'd go so far as to call it understandable, albeit harder to swallow when Microsoft do supply them (at a loss) in their consoles. I think they do, anyway. Quote
