well if you have a spec or normal map ready to go then just do this.

-- for a normalmap

hit 'm' for the material browser, hit the little square next to the Diffuse box. It will bring up a window with a list of things.. hit Normal Bump and from there hit the box that says 'None' thats next to Normal. That'll take ya back to the same window as before but hit 'Bitmap' this time and search for your normalmap texture. After that hit the 'Go to Parent' button (it has an up arrow on it) near the top of the material browser next the the blue checkered box button.

now add a light and render and it should be on there.

-- for a spec

do basically the same as a normalmap but instead of hitting 'Normal Bump' the first time go straight to 'Bitmap' and just search for your spec and go from there.

hope all that made some sense.

doh i've kinda gotten a bit ahead of myself with the instructions..

here.. for the diffuse.. in the material browser click on a sphere go and hit that box next to diffuse below.. and hit bitmap and browse for your diffuse texture. Then hit that go to parent button and scroll down.. you should see a section title 'Maps'. Expand that section and you'll see a whole lotta slots.. the diffuse being filled. For your normalmap hit the 'None' box next to 'Bump' and do like i said before and hit 'normal bump' then that none box then 'bitmap' then find your bump texture.

Do what i said for specular maps under the 'reflection' map as well

then you should have your normal, spec, and diffuse all on your model in max.

lemme know if that confused you.
