As posted from my favorite site, Shacknews.

I know many of you are hardcore ATI fans or vice versu, i didn't start this thread for a flame war, i know some of you aren't keen on dropping big bucks on the newest and greatest cards, so I figured i'd post a semi inexpensive card that may be another option for you. :) I'd say my one miff about the cards at first is the whole PCI-Xpress only thing :|

GeForce 6600 Announced

NVidia today announced the GeForce 6600 series, which will include a regular version of that chipset along with a GT version. Both these cards are considerably more affordable than the 6800 cards, with the regular 6600 card setting you back $149 while the GT version will be $199. Though the press release mentions they'll have awesome performance in DOOM 3, that of course remains to be seen. There's a benchmark-less preview on Tech Report.

X800 XT PE

Allround it looks like a better card, although Doom 3 runs alot better on the latest nvidia cards, but im not gonna base my card purchase on 1 game.

But these new cards r really close in preformance anyway so theres not really that big a difference in what you get. One card is good in some, another is better in something else.

and another good point is that...while doom 3 is no doubt an amazing game....it doesnt seem like it will have the longevity of most other games (games that support many players)
