EviLTaxi Posted March 3, 2007 Author Report Posted March 3, 2007 unfortunately, "$bumpscale" does not seem to work.
hessi Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 mh. i think there was a command to scale the bumpness. though you could include a second normalmap that would be used for hdr. of course that would increase data volume, but unless you seem to be focused on the graphical quality you should consider this. did the bumpscale have any effect anything else? i just heard the command and did never use it before.
e-freak Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 bumpscale is used together with the valve parallax shader (that never worked with standard sdk) and it can be used for the height2normal generator. no effect on the normals at all afaik
EviLTaxi Posted March 4, 2007 Author Report Posted March 4, 2007 mh well including an HDR normal map for every material would be a solution but that's just too much. of course, I am focused on the graphical quality but it just doesn't pay off. this parameter being intended for the height2normal generator mainly is what I was afraid of. too bad it does not have an impact at all. the whole "lightmappedgeneric_HDR_dx9" works as I've tried it out with turning on the cubemap spec maps but bumpscale does nothing.
