MrH2o Posted February 17, 2007 Report Posted February 17, 2007 Aloha! I'm looking for a good and free photoediting program wich MUST have 2 things 1. Must be able to resize images and dpi. 2. Well not a must but it would be really really good if you could make some sorta action (like in photoshop) and make it handle 20 pictures at the same time. I need this for my work since the person sending out varios information is taking my high quality pic and just "drag them down". Thanks in advance Ps. WTF is this Quote
Nysuatro Posted February 17, 2007 Report Posted February 17, 2007 http://www.gimp.org/ I hope this is what you are looking for :s Quote
skdr Posted February 17, 2007 Report Posted February 17, 2007 How about Adobe Photoshop TRIAL? https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/inde ... =photoshop Quote
MrH2o Posted February 17, 2007 Author Report Posted February 17, 2007 I will try Gimp out Nysuatro, thanks TRIAL is not what I look for, thanks anyway Quote

twiz Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 I'm using GIMP for my work since... uhm... ever? You can clearly see that. And to answer your second question wata, Sindwiller could now reply Quote
cyberjunkie Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Irfanview - http://www.irfanview.com/ Free 1MB or so image viewer, If its just resizing and changing DPIs and saving files, it has batch conversion so you can select a folder of high resolution images and you can set your parameters - resolution, dpi, format, compression level, output folder and it'll convert it. Its been my image viewer for a very long time. Feature packed and small, close to 0 startup time. Quote
Spellbinder Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 I heard Gimp can do anything Photoshop can. And thats a lot. Never tried it though. But its free so if i didnt haf Photoshop i sure would try it out. Quote

Just that alot of stuff in GIMP reacts different than in PS or is placed at a different place. And there's also stuff that PS can't do, but GIMP can (for example, PS hasn't a advanced scripting language). Quote
e-freak Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 CS3 of Photoshop has an really advanced script-language and you can also create plugins for older photoshop versions, it is just a little more complex ^^ Gimp is something I would not recommend. Go with IrfanView, it is simple, can handle nearly every fileformat out there (witht the pluginspackage (<1mb)) and the only thing is that the jpeg compression is only upto level 10 (equivalent to photoshop but ps offers a compression format 11 and 12) - which may be visible on plain text sometimes. Gimp is just to overpacked without a really thinking of what the user needs. it trys to immitate photoshop tools but what helps a bunch of 200 tools if you can not control them correctly or don't even find half of them... It doesn't imitate photoshop. In fact, GIMP's GUI is more reasoned then PS' GUI imho. Quote
⌐■_■ Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Yeah but that's probably just because you're used to it. I guess my only suggestion wouldn't fit here.. Quote
Sindwiller Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Yeah but that's probably just because you're used to it. In fact, you're right But who cares about that when he never used PS before Quote
e-freak Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 In fact I tried out Photoshop and Gimp though Photoshop was a bit of one or two weeks until i was in and could make some good looking stuff while until today every thing i do with gimp looks like soapcreamed mustard with jelly sauce and tbh - most of the work i see around the net which is done with gimp doesn't look any better.
