OL Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 of course i will buy it, no monthly fee! it also gets rid of a bunch of the things that make alot of mmorpgs annoying Quote
ctswin Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Did you play it when they did the live e3 thing? it was OK Quote
JynxDaddy Posted August 10, 2004 Author Report Posted August 10, 2004 woohoo Im gonna play with ol ~~~~~ Quote
Pericolos0 Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 looks fun i'll get my brother to buy this Quote
FrieChamp Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 I downloaded the E3 client of guild wars, i installed it, connected, ran around for 5 minutes, exit the game and never touched it since. mmorpgs are time intensive and I didn't have so much time for gaming back then, so that was probably the reason why I didn't continue playing. No monthly fee is certainly an important step to attract more players to online games. Quote
CrazyMAC Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 yes you all should get it and any NcSoft product!!! not that im biyest or anything Quote
JynxDaddy Posted August 10, 2004 Author Report Posted August 10, 2004 I was expecting a negative response !~ woo for guildwars, need to make a mapcore guild Quote
Tequila Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 I tried the E3 playtest thing, it was alright, like a 3D Diablo, but it soon got boring. I require more immediate gratification and control from my games. Quote
Taylor Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 The developers are going to keep the servers up by releasing tonnes of mini-expansions you don't have to buy, of course you will have to buy them unless you like playing by yourself. Given that most monthly fee MMORPGs add new content all the time anyway, it’s not quite the sweet deal where the developers host a massive server for free. Quote
Campaignjunkie Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 I played the E3 demo and was hooked all the way until the test sadly ended. Admittedly, I mostly played the PvP scenarios they had, instead of the quests. One of them was a tournament-style bracket that had various different scenarios, like King of the Hill, Capture the Flag, Team Deathmatch, and Assault/Defend variants. Each tier pitted you against other teams in the bracket and it got progressively more and more challenging. Extremely fun and I was surprised as to how balanced it all was and how well it scaled along with the regular dungeon-exploring mode. It was kind of like a fantasy MMORPG Team Fortress Classic. Really hectic. I also like how they're handling the skill system so that even new or less experienced players have a chance to compete against some of the stronger ones. Definately looking into buying it later, but not too sure about all those expansions yet. Quote
CrazyMAC Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 lil birdy over here tells me a beta should be coming out about november-ish and maybe a stress test one before hand *edit* FAP! i also just found out i made it onto the NCSoft team here =D my hints did'nt go un noticed!!!!! *vibrates* Quote
Marcos Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 I played it for free (e3 trial) And if was very impressive! Plenty of land and missions, but it was rather hard to upgrade your armor and weapons. Olso the item system was pretty strange. But i found the game superb anyways~ Quote
CrazyMAC Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 guild wars does'nt have a monthly subscription also erm nov i think in euro some mags will be handing out USB sticks with the game on for beta/stress tests etc Quote
Mike-O Posted September 15, 2004 Report Posted September 15, 2004 Will there be a monthly fee for Guild Wars? No, there will not be a monthly subscription fee of any kind, anywhere in the world. NICE Looks impressive. This might be the one mmorpg i ever buy. Quote
