Alpha Release: FY_NINJA_ALPHA

This is my first map release ever, and as such I want it to be as perfect as it possibly can be. It is not my first MAP though, just my first release. Please leave a comment with thoughts, suggestions, bugs, feelings and annoyances, and I'll try my best to meet everyones requests before i make a beta release. The reason for the name is that you are supposed to be a good player to get the colt. ^^

Issues:

* Trying to hide geometry sorrounding the spawnpoints, should i use one areaprtal per spawnpoint (14 total), or one per spawn area (2 total)?

* I'm having an ambient_generic 1 second alarm sound set to loop when the m4a1 is picked up, but it refuses to loop. How do i set loop points in a wav file, or what else am i doing wrong?

* Place cubemaps (DONE)

* Decrease crush damage on elevators (DONE (damage now 1))

* Fix skybox leaking into level (in spawn tunnels) (DONE CT) (DONE T)

* Fix rotation for colt (DONE) -bug : player rotates [Decided to keep player rotation for fun]

* Fix physics on grenades and assaultsuit to avoid

falling out of level (DONE by start asleep)

* Fix solidity issues on spawnpoints (DONE - replaced with doors)

* Loop generic_ambient for colt pickup (NEED HELP)

* Fix red spotlight to not shine on crouch blocks

* Fix areaportals (Error messages, but working)

* Make actual buildings in the 3d skybox (IN PROGRESS)

* Adjust upperlevel corner spots to look like

they are emitting light

* Adjust horizontal push in spawntunnels to avoid being pushed to oposite wall

* Make jumpmap stuff around colt (DONE)

* Set a logic_timer for the redlights/soundscape (colt pickup) [??]

* Are the holes along the wall (hiding places) a good idea?

Might remove, or add on oposite wall.

mapcore quality assurance failed :(

well first at all it is a fun map. and then it is an ugly one too. :( my adivce: screw this map. don't make any funmap again. start full de_ or cs_ or dod_ maps. take a closer look at sample maps valve included in the sourcesdk_content folder. dod_flash and de_cbble are good to see how an optimized well looking map is made.

though you should better post screenshots in the wip thread before pimping it as a alpha/beta/INSERT_ANY_NOT_FINAL_TAG/final map release D:

Good for first map, bad for good map.

more on the "bad" side I gues...

best solution to "fit" into textures and brushes is to watch other maps and look for details, textures and other little things witch makes map less "crappy"... I see you don't have problems with editor so its not a long road to make a good looking map - just observe and make own ideas in 3D bricks ;)

start full de_ or cs_ or dod_ maps.

That's not good advice, considering fun maps are played FAR more than custom DE/CS maps.

then make a good one that is worth to be played. though custom maps are more frequently played in DOD:S. maybe counter-strike hasnt the community that wants custom content.
