D3ads Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 For the past 5 months now the DVD has featured the same Crysis and Bioshock screenshots, last month they added Alan Wake, Stalker and a few others to the mix and it's exactly the same media this month too as well as those fucking Crysis screenshots! I swear if I have to look at those one more time, I will march next door and strangle their dog! I'm paying money for this shit, the least they can do is change the content more often, else I'm left with yet another DVD coaster Quote
insta Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 I usually look at screenshots hot off the internet Quote
Mazy Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 I usually look at screenshots hot off the internet Oh you people with your computers and electricity think you're so much better! Quote
D3ads Posted January 16, 2007 Author Report Posted January 16, 2007 Oh I do too, but I feel if I'm paying £4.99 a month for the thing, I should get decent content for my money and not have the same screenshots appear every month, they're bloody old ones as well! Quote
dux Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 Yeah I know I havent bothered with the disc since like... 20001. I've got a huge cd rack full of old cd and dvds from them. If they took thr disc away that no one uses then the mag would be like 50p Quote
Izuno Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 Clearly PCG is conspiring to piss you off. That or they are getting cheap and lazy...or they simply don't have enough new content for some bizarre reason. Quote
Thrik Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 I can't stand magazines like PC Gamer anymore as the content is just so uninspired and like what you can get on the internet. I prefer to spend £4.50 on Edge or something which has a lot more unique written articles and general thoughts on the games industry rather than going for the news/media slant. GamesTM and some other magazines have that mantra too I think. Better off getting a GameSpot/GameSpy/IGN subscription or something if you value the media in a magazine. Quote

EDGE is the best games magazine for any format avaliable in the UK IMO. PCG used to be the top dog, but PCZones redesign pushed them ahead for me. however now I just get all my games info of the net. but when I want a magazine I get EDGE. for starters, the design is brilliant. I even used their magazine in my A Level graohic art project. secondly the writing is top notch. and finaly it covers the industry rather than individual games and systems. but dont go getting that gamespy/spot subscription just yet thrik: http://www.gamerzines.com/pcgzine/ Check out the staff on there. all from magazines like PCzone and PCgamer. a monthly magazine you would expect to find in smiths for free! niice! Izuno Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 Magazines are soooooo 90s. I dunno...i gotta stack of gaming magazines in the loo at home. It's nice to read something without a refresh rate once in a while. Quote
Rick_D Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 Yeah I know I havent bothered with the disc since like... 20001. They still have dvd's so far into the future?! And here's me thinking blu-ray would take over -_- Quote
Taylor Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 Heh, I owe a lot to PC Gamers DVD. And Gonnas works there. So please, more love. Quote
Zacker Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 It is indeed about time that they get rid of their included discs. Quote
D3ads Posted January 18, 2007 Author Report Posted January 18, 2007 The magazine itself is ok, it's hit and miss depending on what's actually being released around the time, but the DVD contents have been getting worse and worse- I swear this month the DVD is the same one as before but with a few extra HL2 maps added on. I think I'll be stopping my subscription if it carries on and indeed read another magazine/sign up for a decent paid website. Quote
