Fearian Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 the map I have been working on for 3 weeks has just died on me. (HL2DM) I have a university visit tomorrow during which I said Id brng along my portfolio. (computer games art and design). today, my map suddenly gets the compile error: No such variable "$hdrbasetexture" for material "skybox/sky_day01_09rt" Can't load skybox file skybox/sky_day01_09 to build the default cubemap! but im not trying to compile HDR, my card doesnt even support it! the effects of this range from the bsp not being created, to the game loading u (somehow) an old compile of the map as if nothing changed (but now plauged with visual glitches) to my entire map dissapearing in game, crashing, or appearing as if the entire map is being viewed through env_fog from a large distance. any help would be so much apriciated! Things that havn't worked: copying the map into a new vmf and deleting the old deleting the entities deleting the skybox/changing the skybox adding cubemaps/building cubemaps refreshing SDK content compiling it for half life 2 making a new map with a skybox, seeing it work, copying in the contents of the map into the skybox. (get same errors)
Furyo Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 That error wouldn't cause the map to not be generated. Post your complete log, I'm pretty sure there are other errors in it
Fearian Posted January 17, 2007 Author Report Posted January 17, 2007 fixxed. for some bizarro reason, when I deleted a ladder entity the problem was no more. Im to tired to even think why... urrghhh. thanks anyway.
Steppenwolf Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 The error means that you get pink checkered reflections the first time you open your map. After building cubemaps it will be fixed. No error to worry about.
