Hi

I'm the leader of the relatively new HL2 mod 'Valandil' and we are in need of someone with good rendering experience and the appropiate software to produce renders of our modelers work.

They of course would be credited for their services both on the presented renders that would be posted on the website, and on the team page of the website.

So if you're interested please give me a shout on either MSN or AIM.

My modelers would do if they had the money/lack of morality/know-how to have decent modeling software, instead they both use Milkshape, so instead of telling them to download illegal software, I thought I'd ask around for someone who would be willing to do some rendering for us, at least until we recruit another modeler with such software.

Elaborate please, I don't see what the problem is with using MS for weapon modelling.

i could go into more elaborate detail (looking at your media) but that might be hurtful, and i respect you for making a mod anyway.

Well I'm not a modeler, I don't know how to spot bad modeling, or mistakes/downfalls.

Please, do point out what's wrong with the models seen on our site, I won't be hurt by you pointing out faults in someone elses work.

I'd rather people were just honest as opposed to just laughing and not saying why.

its not as bad as i let on, was in a bad mood. you just need some good skins. the 3 swords The Baron - Two Handed The Duke - Two Handed The Knight - One Handed all look the same tho :D

Well basically our idea is to have the model randomised when you choose a type of sword, because not all two handed swords are the same obviously, so instead it's randomised each time you change/configure your class.

I'm going to try my hand at skinning the swords pretty soon, the closest I've done to skinning is making the "l337 cr3w" player model on CS have a blue top with adidas stripes on it about 2 or 3 years ago, but I think I'll be able to get some good results since I've reasonably proficient with Photoshop.

POVRay is proving to be better than I expected, the coder on the mod is working it out and has produced some fairly nice renders of the swords so that's that problem solved for now.
