Looking at the games that have been released so far, i wouldnt get a Wii. Im kinda disappointed with what ive seen so far :( 360 and PS3 seem to have all the cool games again. Gears of war & rainbow6... Wii only has zelda. I thought with the new controls there could be some cool FPS action, but red steel sucked and im not sure if pointing a remote at the screen is better than using a mouse or using a controller.

Id buy a 360

I'm pretty conflicted between wii and xbox 360 :S. On the one hand I want an xbox 360 for gears of war and its upcoming games, but I feel i should wait til I have a hdtv before I get one. On the other I could get a wii for cheaper but none of the current wii games really interest me, except maybe zelda. The wii does however have the big back catalog of gamecube games I always wanted to play though (like the metroid prime games and pikmin).

I'll probably end up getting both in a year or so..

I have always been loyal to my trusty PC, as there have always been plenty of great games there giving me no reason to buy a console. Lately I have however come in doubt and I am now seriously considering buying a PS2.

My reason for not buying a console have always been that I would not get anything largely different from what I could get on my PC. In the last years lots of very innovative games have come out for the PS2. Games like EyeToy and Guitar Hero is really something unique that I can't get anywhere else. In the more normal genre but still unique we got exceptional games such as Ico and Shadow of The Colossus.

Wii, because I really enjoy Nintendo games and have consistently done so since being a very little boy.

That said, I and pretty much anyone else who plays games more than average will almost certainly end up getting at least the Wii and 360, and I'm seriously considering the PS3 too in half a year, maybe a full year (it doesn't even come out in Europe for four months).

I think it's a bit early to draw full comparisons between the three though as only one — the Xbox 360 — has the benefit of over a year of momentum. Developers have had lots of time to get a feel for the console, and more kick-ass games like Gears of War and Viva Pinata (:-D) are coming along. Go back to the 360's launch and the games weren't exactly amazing, as launch titles very rarely are. Way too early to dismiss any console in its first few months, as I'm sure you know RD.

With the likes of Metal Gear Solid 4 and Mario Galaxy, plus Mario Kart, Grand Turismo, Smash Bros, Resident Evil, Metroid Prime, etc on the horizon, things will brighten up for the new entries before long if you ask me.

My vote is cast for the Wii, though I'm not gonna get a new console any time soon. As it stands though, if I was to get one, I'd pick the Wii because it's the one system that wouldn't compete with a PC at all. Both a Wii and a nice PC would complete each other in terms of gaming possibilities.

I also worked on a Wii title (selling very well so far and that received great reviews) but that doesn't make me automatically a Wii enthusiast. I'll wait for another year or so to see what kinda games are available then. The Wii is going to harbour more party games than any other console so far, and that's not my preference. Playing Rayman with my family this christmas would be nice but that's not a big enough argument in favor of getting a Wii. Besides there is a PS2 version.

Now if you're considering getting Rayman, get the Wii version. Hands down.

As much as I'm loving the Wii, I'd still have to put the 360 first. The combination of hardware power, controller, available games, online integration, Xbox live arcade, and all that is just too well done. I'm starting to pick some multi-platform games on the 360 over the PC, and Live has gotten me back into playing multiplayer games, something I'd grown tired of on the PC.

The Wii is still an awesome system, though, and I'm eager to see what's yet to come on it. The thing that will determine its fate is third party publishers - if they're content to just treat it like a gamecube and give it tacked-on ports with little thought to the controller, it'll be tough to get off the ground. But if they treat it like a lower-cost development platform capable of delivering some really unique experiences (as Ubi/Ancel and co. have done with Rayman, for example)... good times abound. Sure, the best games for it now are pretty much Zelda and Rayman, but Zelda is really fucking good and Rayman just oozes a personality that is all but lost in so many generic taking-things-too-seriously titles on all platforms. And to include something as addicting as Wii Sports out of the box is a great move; I've actually been playing that more than anything (and having more company over to do so than we usually do). And waking up sore. Ow.

PS3 is just too much of a "me too" sort of checklist-style design. Like they thought they could just throw in a hard drive, a wireless controller, half-assed motion-sensing, online functionality, and 7 cores and it would automatically be awesome. Games are already offering options to disable the motion control entirely which, while perhaps making me more interested in Warhawk again after that awful looking E3 demo, is just a sign that even developers aren't thinking much of that functionality.

Which I guess is good; I'd hate to see Microsoft and Sony suddenly decide that every game and system from here on out has to have crazy motion control - That should be a branching point for games, not a new direction for everything. Sucks how every time something sort of new comes around it's just assumed every game after that point has to include it or it's no longer a worthwhile piece of entertainment.
