Defrag
Just keep practicing... Read the max tutorials and get a solid grasp of the basics before you ask people what you're doing wrong; there's not much that anyone can say to you other than "learn the basics". Rick_D
Try not to boolean if you can avoid it, I find I spend more time tidying it up afterwards. Check out http://www.iwannamap.com's VTM's - the one one uv mapping in max is really useful.
Defrag
about bolean operations? About any and every modeling technique / tool available. Just run through some of the tutorials -- there's loads; look through them and find something that covers the basics of the type of modelling you're interested (likely polygonal). Every technique and way of working is ammo for your arsenal.
OL
Don't get so down on yourself Spellbinder, you're a good person and if Max can't see that than maybe you shouldn't spend time with him

Meotwister
Indeed you should date Maya, i heard she's quite hot I'd do her yeah man it looks like you could utilize a lot more space in your uv map. You have that whole square, make the best of it.
Spellbinder
Well the space is of lesser consearn at this time since i had to do something wierd anyway for the texture not to fit whatever i do.
