Gothic 3

So - today Gothic 3 was offically released (many markets had it since yesterday) and i wonder what's the international resonance to it

i my self find it hard to believe anyone would buy this game atm - it's bugged and unstable and they needed to release a patch already with 60 mb just to make the game a little playable - especally then looking at mideuropean german-speaking room games in international market that hurts - because gothic 3 could have been the next blockbuster after farcry coming from here.

This fairly snuck onto market shelves didn't it? I mean, I've known about the game for a long while now, but I had no idea it was due out already, and normally I've got a least a few weeks notice before something appears.

I'm sad to hear it is so laden with bugs, as my old flatmates raved about the first two games so I was planning on picking this one up. I've only just gotten into Oblivion though, so maybe I'll hold off on Gothic 3 until some more patches have sorted out the worst of the issues.

uhm - i think piranha byets did do a lot to this disaster as well - because as far as i remember the first gamestar preview of gothic 3 - gamestar wrote: nice models, nice artworks but nothing playable -> a gamedev team should imho try to work with playable versions instead of working out tons of art-stuff but don't care how to work with it ingame properly

a game isnt usually playable for a long time of gameproduction. maybe can run around and take a look at all the stuff.

such things as casting spells or what ever is something that needs to be coded. maybe the publisher wants changes and screws the concept of the dev team. its not that transparent but due to my experience i would start looking for reasons of a buggy release at jowood and not the developer.

It was kinda weird/funny when they announced that the game is gold and removed gold status again a few days later to go back to bug fixing (until one week later when it went gold again). Nobody's perfect though I guess and it would be a shame if a buggy release ruins the reputation of the series.

but is this really to be supported? releasing games with a hell full of bugs?

it's jowood who want to release games even if they are bugged. jowood is the last company i would ever consider as a publisher :X

CDV is worse ... they make all their money with nazi and porn games and all the money goes that douchbag boss so that he can keep his "life-style" up ( bang and impregnante one secretary there after the other ... ) *shakes head*
