e-freak
So - today Gothic 3 was offically released (many markets had it since yesterday) and i wonder what's the international resonance to it i my self find it hard to believe anyone would buy this game atm - it's bugged and unstable and they needed to release a patch already with 60 mb just to make the game a little playable - especally then looking at mideuropean german-speaking room games in international market that hurts - because gothic 3 could have been the next blockbuster after farcry coming from here. ShaDoW
People will still buy it, even if you find it hard to believe, because most of those people won't know that its bugged. I'm looking forward to it, Gothic games have always been a little buggy but always playable from start to end.
e-freak
but is this really to be supported? releasing games with a hell full of bugs?
ReNo
This fairly snuck onto market shelves didn't it? I mean, I've known about the game for a long while now, but I had no idea it was due out already, and normally I've got a least a few weeks notice before something appears. I'm sad to hear it is so laden with bugs, as my old flatmates raved about the first two games so I was planning on picking this one up. I've only just gotten into Oblivion though, so maybe I'll hold off on Gothic 3 until some more patches have sorted out the worst of the issues. e-freak
i myself will wait until budget-tag (below 20€) will be on it - then it is bug free as well ^^
hessi
but is this really to be supported? releasing games with a hell full of bugs? it's jowood who want to release games even if they are bugged. jowood is the last company i would ever consider as a publisher :X
e-freak
uhm - i think piranha byets did do a lot to this disaster as well - because as far as i remember the first gamestar preview of gothic 3 - gamestar wrote: nice models, nice artworks but nothing playable -> a gamedev team should imho try to work with playable versions instead of working out tons of art-stuff but don't care how to work with it ingame properly
ReNo
Well, the artists aren't really responsible for making the game playable, so having good art isn't really prohibiting the game from being solid and bug-free.

FrieChamp
It was kinda weird/funny when they announced that the game is gold and removed gold status again a few days later to go back to bug fixing (until one week later when it went gold again). Nobody's perfect though I guess and it would be a shame if a buggy release ruins the reputation of the series.
e-freak
it HAS already ruined the series for me -> the thing about the gold master seems they were in need of solid beta testers so they just had the magazines do the work
Steppenwolf
Wasnt Jowood the publisher that ruined Söldner by releasing it 100% bugged?
dux
Think so. Wonderfull to see a game that would have been really sweet to play reuined by such ass uped bugs.
