MrH2o
Here are some things I found extremly overrated. 1. World Of Warcraft - I admitt I haven't played it (mainly cause I'm more of a FPS guy), but whats so good about going around in a fantasy world slaying dragon, elfs, gnomes or whatever? Gilrs seems to like the game but have the really tryed Half-Life? 2. Skype - Speak you'r friend at the other side of the world for no money att all, exuse me but you have been able to do that pretty much ever since internet and microphones was inveted. Ok to have a external telephone that dosent requier a computer, but speaking infront of the comp is sooo 1983 3. Myspace - What exactly does this community have that other dosent? Are there a secret service that I haven't yet disscovered? or is it just a lazy mans attempt to build a webpage? I'm sure you guys have something you think its overrated too, spew it out! Squirrelly
1. It's the fact of role-playing. Women don't like fast-paced shooters (normally), so they tend to stay towards to the MMO games. 2. Agreed 3. MySpace is a wonderful tool for speaking to your friends and whatnot. Sure, it is over-rated, but it used by millions upon millions of people, and it's cool to see how old friends do over the years.
ctswin
WoW was OK Skype just got a mass audience realising they could do this online probably so it became popular, my friends use it and I have no problem doing it if it means i keep in touch MySpace doesn't need much of a comment really, it's just a waste of internet space imo

Evert
Sorry too drunk maybe. But isn't the thing of a community to be sorta overrated? They often consist of §39§912492419 persons when they are, leading to a community where u most likely will find the idiot you're looking for. or w/e (means whatever for u non operah people (u means you))

FrieChamp
I played the WoW trial non stop for 2 weeks and then decided myself against a purchase of the retail version and for health and a social life. Never really used Skype, if I want to talk to friends I call them. For internet friends I got ICQ, msn. I tried to get into myspace 2 or 3 times, but it's not really my thing. 90% of the websites up there give me eye cancer and none of my friends use it..too many attention whores and lunatics, but I guess many people like it shrug
Bic-B@ll
i hate spending money so i dont really buy games, and on top of that i dont want to pay monthly, plus that type of game isnt my type of game and like frie, i'd hate to get sucked into a game and be religious to it like i was to cs like 8 years ago. i used to use team speak a lot and it was neat to have voice conversations, theyre definitely different from im chats, it depends a lot on who you are talking to. skpye would be awesome if everyone had it and a microphone no one loves me enough for me to loef mypsace, plus im with frie again, looking around for 5 minute makes me cry with the ridiculous music, transparent text, non-scrolling backgrounds, broken tables and whatnot. plus bad grammar
kleinluka
ummmm skype isnt overrated. skype is fucking awesome. it has by far the clearest sound out of any of the voice chat programs. I just recently cancelled my home phone line and got SkypeIn and SkypeOut. Meaning I can make and receive regular calls with Skype.... Instead of paying 50 bucks every month for the stupid phone bill I now pay $40 a YEAR for my phone number and free voicemail. I have to buy $10 credits every 2-3 months for making calls. So I'm saving tons of money. I can also create conference calls. For example when I'm on the phone with a person who is using his regular phone, i can invite up to 9 more people into the conversation....whether they have Skype or not. And there's basically no lag at all. On top of that, Skype has the cheapest long distance rates EVER. 2 cents/minute from Canada to Germany, as opposed to 8 cents/min with a regular Bell Canada phone line. Free calls to the US/Canada until the end of the year. Overrated? I don't think so.
Section_Ei8ht
1.) Wont play world of warcraft because I know I'll get addicted to it and become what was depicted in south park. 2.) I use skype constantly. I only use it to talk to the bms dev team on skype, i never use it for something i have to pay for. 3.) agreed. Duff-e
all 3 things you listed already existed....they were just made more mainstream and easier to use. it's all about ease of use...not innovation
ginsengavenger
skype... wow, I'm sold. I haven't had a landline in two years but there have been times I could use one if it weren't so much expense for so little use. WoW has a lot of things going for it. If you don't understand that, either it's *really* not your style or you just haven't played it myspace is successful because of its massive user base. Yes, that is a paradoxical statement. If you paid 50 bucks for your home phone line, I think you did something wrong in the first place. Not sure how things are in Canada, but in good ol' Germany I got cable and pay 70 bucks for TV, digital TV channels, internets and a phone flatrate..and I don't even think this is the cheapest anymore! Anyway, Skype sounds good
D3ads
1. RPGs/MMORPGs don't interest me at all so I don't really care. 2. No idea what you're on about with that one... 3. Disagree with you on that one, very useful for learning about new bands and talking to/meeting people with common interests!
