max payne set the bar for me

The combat was incredibly fun and set new standards in 3rd person action games, story was great (emotional!! at least 1st part, 2nd one wasn't so great anymore I agree), art/level of detail was amazing, especially in the 2nd one, the pay off was that the game was rather short, lots of interaction...I hope Remedy delivers again with Alan Wake!!

After seeing this thread I actually installed Max Payne 2 again and played through it in one day (took me about 6 hours). Tis good stuff, visually it still holds up quite well (Although no near as impressive as it was back then)~

Did any of you guys have a moment in the middle or end of a game where you just sat back and said "my god this game is amazing" ?

I have that with god of war, often just pausing the game to reflect on how fucking awesome it is . Holy shit that game rules!!
