dux Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 hoi hoi, just finished putting together my portfolio and would greatly appreciate peoples thoughts and comments on it's look and content. Much thanksies. http://dux.interlopers.net Quote
PhilipK Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 Really got some great stuff in there. Just the far right two pics in the top row stands out as a bit old. But might be good to have that in too Rest is yummy. Just one note, the title of all images is neotokyo art. I suppose not all is for neotokyo tho Quote
dux Posted September 28, 2006 Author Report Posted September 28, 2006 Whoops! Thanks for pointing that out Quote
Sa74n Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 this is quite good stuff you got there! id probably get rid of that big border around the images (or atleast shrink it down notably) because it doesnt help anything, will increase loading time, and will add scrollbars to the browser window on some resolutions. and maybe you should order the pics you have by maps. and if youve been working on neotokyo, make sure you show that stuff aswell. also .. if youre looking for a job or freelance work... WRITE IT DOWN on your website for everyone to notice, give contact details on the front page aswell. Quote
Zacker Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 It looks really good, both your portfolio layout and your maps! You list PS as one skills, so maybe show some textures by you? Quote
FrieChamp Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 Not sure how I feel about the hl shots, look fairly average, but the hl2 stuff is pretty nice! Quote
Ginger Lord Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 You list PS as one skills, so maybe show some textures by you? Surely just because you have Photoshop skills doesnt mean you make textures? I started blocking out my portfolio, I'm lazy and suck at webdesign so used a Wordpress template, so here we are. Problem is, I don't know what career I want. If any in the Games industry at all... /hijack. Quote
insta Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 I love that Adrenaline Gamer map you did, Dux. What happened to that mod? Quote
dux Posted September 28, 2006 Author Report Posted September 28, 2006 Died Was close to finishing the damn thing too, yarg! When I've got 10 minutes I'll try and finish it and release it as a hl2dm map >_> Thanks for the comments chaps. Quote
ReNo Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 Was close to finishing the damn thing too, yarg! When I've got 10 minutes I'll try and finish it and release it as a hl2dm map >_> I keep telling myself that about my AG map too Seriously though, you need to do it, cos your map was looking awesome. Like everything else in your portfolio it seems! I think thats a great selection of shots, covering quite a few different styles. Only ones I think seem a little sub-par are the rocky valley HL1 shots, which seem a bit bland in terms of lighting and look over-sharpened to me. Otherwise, rocking Good luck getting a job, I'm sure you'll have a lot of interested parties. Quote
Zacker Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 Now two of you have commented on his HL1 map shots as being a bad idea to have there. I think they are totally cool to have as even though they look old, it's still visible that it's decent mapping. Quote
dux Posted September 28, 2006 Author Report Posted September 28, 2006 Just like to add those were done quite a while ago with mappers block, I totally agree that they look like ass. The main purpose were the scripts in the level rather than an aswesome look. I'll have to plonk a video on the site when I got a moment to show them. Cheers. Quote
Polaris Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 Nice stuff, but I have some crits on the site itself. When you click a thumbnail the window that opens up should be small and fit around your image, you should also diable the address bar and all that stuff. You also need to add "next" and "previous" buttons in those windows right under each image (and always in the same position) wich should make it easier for potential employers to look though your work because they wont have to close each window then go and click on the next one. Grinwhrl Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 Looks nice, I would take out the Hl1 work or seperae it to old work or something, but keep the NS stuff. Quote
st0lve Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 None of the images work here. I see tumbs and then I open media00.htm (number changes for each tumb).. which is a blank page. Quote
