Mazy Posted July 22, 2004 Author Report Posted July 22, 2004 Hmmm, that is interesting, giving me doubt! CURSE THEM! But still, this is just one game, there have been cases where other ATI cards have preformed crappy on some stuff, and way beyond nvidias stuff in other shits. But still, the Ultra does look like it has the upper hand in this one, and its DirectX 9.0c ready :G /me goes into thinking mode CURSED!!! Quote
JynxDaddy Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 you know, it would be great if there was a universal guide to what how each card fairs with each new game engine, especially for those on a budget who want something good but can't drop 5 bills on a 6800 or X800. Yes, review sites are soo messy when your just trying to find the best card in your price range. Quote
Mazy Posted July 22, 2004 Author Report Posted July 22, 2004 its funny that ATIs cards have such a hard time on AA, where as the Nvidia cards handle AA alot better. Ive always been under the impression that ATI handled FSAA alot better than Nvidia, but appparently not :G~ Quote
CrazyMAC Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 hmmm AA kind of pointless inless you have a hudge arse monitor or run at 800*600 you just don't notice normaly D!: Quote
Mazy Posted July 22, 2004 Author Report Posted July 22, 2004 In general I dont really care about AA, but with this computer Im getting then Ill start using it. But for the most part then I think AA is way too overrated, although it obviously make games look a bit better and smooth. But anyway, in 1024x768 without AA the X800 XT handles it pretty good, and its probably something like that im gonna play in (mebbe 1280x1024). Anyway, deciding on what card to buy just based on one game is bullshit, although It is quite easy to decide on what to get. Hmmmmm Quote
CrazyMAC Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 so whats the final verdict?!?!?!?!?! i was thinking maybe NV coz of the dual thing that coming out soon would'nt be so much of a blow to the old wallet should i be mad enough todo such a thing Quote
Mazy Posted July 27, 2004 Author Report Posted July 27, 2004 Gonna get a X800 XT And btw (this is kinda annoying actually since Im buying an Alienware thats all build n finished mhh), I can get 40% off on all ATI cards. Guess somebody in IO has some good contacts in ATI . But Im gonna get a X800 XT for my dad so its not all loss. Quote
CrazyMAC Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 40% holy crap D=~ ..... you remember that night mazy and you told me if i ever needed something just ask well..... ;D~ Quote
CrazyMAC Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 wats a good NV card that does'nt want shit loads of power... sort of the top and one that might equal the 9800xt or something as im not very rich and not sure how much they will be i followed in mazzels feet and ask work =) Quote
Mazy Posted July 29, 2004 Author Report Posted July 29, 2004 hmm, the 5900? the 6800 gt is apparently pretty good too and it doesnt require its own power plant to run. I'd still go for ATI tho, they score best in most reviews n benchmarks (except for doom 3 of course). Quote
GrayFox Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 And that will be fixed in Catalyst 4.8 or .9 Quote
InsaneSingingBlender Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 im so getting 6800 gt and some ram for christmas Quote
NotDuffy Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 i hope santa shoves something else up your stocking. its not coal but its the same color. Quote
CrazyMAC Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 i'll see how much them 2 will cost me i guess it only really a temp card to as i think i should upgrade my system after x-mas GT = normal power and ULTRA = national grid? Quote
