cyberjunkie
Dad usually goes for a hike or a trek with some of his friends or alone, once or twice every year to the Himalayan region. He returned yesterday from a 15day trip to a place called Leh, in Ladakh. Its not the type of place for people whose idea of adventure is flying to a place and checking into a 5star hotel, sipping on champagne while sitting in a jacuzzi and watching TV. Its an isolated place which is accessible by road for around 4-5 months a year. During the other months, the only transportation available is by planes. Only a couple of them land and takeoff everyday. Here are some of the pics he took during the trip. Hope you guys like them. All credit goes to my dad Pretty common sight, roads over the clouds. Streams and rocks crossing roads. Roads get washed away, diversions are used if possible. Roads in the region are vulnerable to landslides. Blockages are a common occurrence. Barren land everywhere, occasionally one finds streams being diverted and small patches land being cultivated. An old palace on a ridge in Leh. Some nice art Snow covered peaks of mountain ranges stand tall like guardians. Statue of Buddha at Shanti Stupa a location in Leh, was built by the Japanese. Inside a monastery Peaks covered with snowfall from the recent rain which make their way up to the region. Someone from another group and..the second highest pass in the world, the highest pass was ahead in the journey. A waterfall near Kullu, a well known accessible tourist spot in India on the way back. If anyone wants more pictures, i'll upload them
