Major League Online Mapping Contest Official Rules

About the Contest: This contest being held by Major League Online brings the mapping community of Counter-Strike the chance to get their maps played in a professional league environment. MLO has been running since 2002 and provides a fun atmosphere for gamers to play in. The league offers the highest caliber competition with cash and prizes over $1,000 having already been given out in Major League C-Strike. MLO has been down for a few months while we got a new website to making the league even better. That website will be up soon. We are looking for a map to use as the official MLO map in our seasons.

Rules:

1. There is no set theme for the contest. Use your imagination to create what ever environment you want.

2. Make the map based on gameplay for 5v5 league play. This is the most important factor in the contest. If the map does not play well for 5v5 play then the chances of winning will be greatly decreased.

3. The map will be defusion (de_) style gameplay.

4. r_speeds are to remain under 1000. We encourage the most detailed and exciting map you can make but it must be playable on any computer.

5. Textures, you may use any textures you want. If you use textures that are not your own make sure you have permission to use them for this contest (written and submitted with the map) and that proper credit is given. We also will have a small mlo.wad that has some banners and such that can be used in the map.

6. The .wad, and .bsp must all be submitted for the map to be considered. The map must follow the naming rules of the contest to be considered still. We may use the version of the map in our league how we see fit. If the .rmf is not submited it would be ok if you are willing to help edit the map if exploits are found, or editing is needed for gameplay reasons.

7. The name of the map shall be de_mlo_mapnamehere. Whatever you want to name the map in the mapnamehere part is fine. Anything containing racial, profanity, or otherwise unacceptable names will not be considered.

8. The use of sounds and models are fine in your map. If they are used they must be submitted with the map in the right file for unzipping. If they are not your own make sure you have permission to use for this contest (in written submitted with map also).

9. If you would like to submit a .txt file with it that is fine, the file will be edited before release but will still contain the information for your credit.

Rules for Submission:

1. The map must be placed in the correct folder and all parts of the map in their correct folders.

2. The folder must be sent as a .zip file

3. Submit an email to mapcontest@themlo.com

4. In the email submit the following: Your name, Your email, name of the map, and a link to where to dl the map from (this is the preferred way, but if you cannot do that send the map as an attachment, if neither of these work for you come to #MLO and pm an op)

5. All submissions must be turned in by August 20, 2004 at Midnight PST.

Prize for Winning:

1. First place: Map is used in the league map rotation. And a choice of: $100 or you get use of 2 months of a 12 man private server.

2. Second Place: Map is used in the league map rotation. And a choice of: $50(if a map is worthy of second place) or you get use of 1 month of a 12 man private server.

Disclaimer: The contest will be judged by the MLO staff and official testers of the map. All opinions for judgment will be that of the MLO staff and testers and is final. This is the official MLCS mapping contest for MLO. All used maps and materials are property of Major League Online.

MONEY HAS BEEN APPROVED. here is the new reading of the prizes

Prize for winning:

1. First place: Map is used in the league map rotation. And a choice of: $100 or you get use of 2 months of a 12 man private server.

The second place map only will recieve money if the map is worth league play. But im sure with the maps this community can make it will be.
