TeddyBear Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 Could anyone explain why my 3D viewport in hammer is all black? And why don't specular and normal maps work in HLMV on particular models anymore?
hessi Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 viewport: change it to 2d then back to 3d normalmaps: custom models or valve ones?
TeddyBear Posted August 12, 2006 Author Report Posted August 12, 2006 Thanks for a quick reply Tried that, didn't work. Custom models.
Furyo Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 viewport: Or go to "View" and select "Center 3d views on selection"
Defrag Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 Yeah I don't get why valve has done this. Surely they could just retain the original behaviour or spawn a camera at the origin if one does not exist? I always just hit ctrl-shift-e (centre view on selection) nowadays when I open a map without a camera.

TeddyBear Posted August 12, 2006 Author Report Posted August 12, 2006 Haha There's always something they have to screw up ^^
BaRRaKID Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 funny how people complain about things that went bad instead of talking about the ones that went well
dissonance Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 funny how people complain about things that went bad instead of talking about the ones that went well but that's true of anything
Bic-B@ll Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 did anything go well? obtw, hammer crashes now if you go to use it over 2 monitors, i learned that after about 2 hours of unsaved mapping :\

TeddyBear Posted August 12, 2006 Author Report Posted August 12, 2006 funny how people complain about things that went bad instead of talking about the ones that went well I know someone would write this. Well, sure, they added good stuff like phong shading and fixed the ATi graphical bug but at the same time they managed to squeeze even more bugs in. I mean, it's frustrating having to wait for a month and a half to get rid of these problems really screwing things up for you, making alot of time going to waste having to work yourself around them, especially if you are working within a timeline and on commercial products.
Furyo Posted August 12, 2006 Report Posted August 12, 2006 Don't think for a second that we have the same SDK as the purchasers of the license. There's a lot more to the Valve SDK than what we are given for free.
