not that I have any time to play games or demos this month (ok maybe 5 minutes on Xbox Live here and there) but I definitely want to check this out, just to see what new ideas are being done in Source. The gameplay movie I weeks (months?) ago looked cool.

Just finished the demo, and yeah, this game really worth the try. Too bad there's only 10 - 15 minutes of demo :/. Although, on a bad note, you'll need a powerfull computer to run it all smoothly. I got myself a 1.8 ghz 1024mo of RAM and a Radeon 9800 pro 128 mo, it was really smooth in closed environnements like 50 - 60 fps, but on the second level with the big ruin i was around 2 - 5 fps .. so yeah.

It's short, but there's a bit of replay value if you try out different skills and approaches. Supposedly you can noclip around a trigger and actually fight the ogre at the end, though I haven't tried personally.

Anyway, I really liked it. The combat is a lot more visceral than Oblivion, which I already liked in the first place. It definitely has a crazy action-movie feel to it; kicking people off ledges, swinging around on chains, etc. It reminds me of the fights in Pirates of the Carribean movies. The level design also feels really really contrived (convenient wooden platforms, lots of physics props) but that's forgivable.

A cool thing I discovered: You can set your arrows on fire if you draw your bow and hold the arrow to a torch.

A cool moment I had: I was trying to snipe this one orc with a bow and arrow - but I missed and hit a rope, which caused a chandelier to drop down and break the wood platform he was standing on. It was a long fall to the bottom.

The stealth is a little weaker than I would like, and the story already seems really lame - but the combat! Oh, the combat! I'm definitely looking forward to this now.

I'm addicted to daggers in melee combat, that's really nervous and fast, although you have to be really accurate to hit your ennemy in the right spot and avoid his armor, the character should need a bit more speed in his moves tho. Also the bow isn't that great, oblivion's bow is above i think, but anyway who cares, i don't play this game for distance combats :-D

feels like an awful hl2 mod with prefabricated "source" graphics and a ut2k3-tech feel with 5% of the fps, a generic, unbalanced, overhyped fantasy game with the "Might and Magic" franchise name tagged to it to drive in fans

I miss games that were games.

Wow, those are pretty damn scathing comments. I've yet to get the demo, but from what I've seen of the game through trailers and screenshots, it looks a whole lot better than you seem to be making out. Now I'm feeling a little less sure about the game...

Its like a hyper polished oblivion missing alot of the great functionality and gameplay RPG type stuff. The sword combat feels INCREDIBLY solid though, I will reluctantly buy this because the combat is glorious.

It crashed on me before I tweaked its settings, which was annoying though.

I enjoyed the combat, though a hated the voice acting in the training part. I'll probably get it when it comes out. Multiplayer might be cool. :-D
