Thrik Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 It might be Prey as fuck, but let's face it — it looks fun. TF2 video should be up for grabs soon. xD Quote
Erratic Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 but let's face it — it looks fun. Yeah, my first reaction was "what a fucking rip-off" but they're certainly expanding on the idea considerably. So, is this just a new technology they're going to impliment into source through other games, probably EP2, or is it going to be a standalone product? Quote
General Vivi Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 im sure the prey team is kicking themselves right now for not doing somthing similar in their game . Quote
Defrag Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Looks awesome. You could potentially make some really creative maps for it, either focusing on logic, creativity or movement / aim skills. Quote
Vinny Testaverde Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 ah dude thats a million times better than the gravity gun Quote
ReNo Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 I think the guys who went to the VDC mentioned that this was originally developed by some uni students who Valve picked up, but I might be mistaken. The presentation videos finally arrived in the office yesterday so I'll maybe take a look and find out. Either way, it looks cool. Some really clever use of the portals shown there - love the fact your velocity is carried through so you can use your dropping speed as a launch speed Quote
DelaZ Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Awesome! High res video (1280): http://xboxyde.com/news_3186_en.html You can see a depth of field effect on the gun: http://images.xboxyde.com/gallery/publi ... 7_0015.jpg Quote
skdr Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 I can't imagine how hard those levels could be Quote
Mazy Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Looks alot more interesting that what Prey did. I'll admit that Prey had some really impressive portal tech, but the way they used it in general was really boring, this looks way more creative~ Good shit~ Quote
KungFuSquirrel Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 to be fair, it might have been inspired by the old version of Prey from the 90s, but these guys seemed to have had a functional prototype of this sort of thing before the resurrected version was announced. looks really crazy. My brain is melting already. Quote
RD Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 this is both genius and brilliant. The video is also superb Quote
D3ads Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Human Head ought to be kicking themselves right about now Quote
