Bic-B@ll Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 lol people aren't goig to like that. i saw 5 new videos of episode 2 today and it looked near finished, i guess it was just that one section. i'm gussing that a lot of that time is being given towards portal and tf2. Quote
skdr Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 It doesnt really matter. More time to develop to make it polished. edit: episode 2 trailer http://media.pc.ign.com/media/812/81257 ... 46399.html Quote
Polaris Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 Actually I think the delay is due to the simultaneous release on both consoles and PC Quote
twiz Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 YESS it looks great! I can't wait for january! I LOVE the classic steam/grate sound at the end. Just that sound can put a big stupid grin on my face. Quote
mabufo Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 I don;t want to buy episode 2... I just want TF2. Christ. Quote
sensee Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 It doesnt really matter. More time to develop to make it polished. edit: episode 2 trailer http://media.pc.ign.com/media/812/81257 ... 46399.html holy shit, I see stencil shadows in those gameplay videos. Quote
Furyo Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 The only fact that I can see Dog fighting a strider makes me drool Quote
Thrik Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 I doubt my computer will even run it until I upgrade, which will be next spring I think. Quote
von*ferret Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 models have always given off stencil shadows. Quote
skdr Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 Aren't these stencil shadows? If yes, they're new to Source tech. Quote
Sindwiller Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 Nah, they look to me like a overall improved projected shadows algorithm. Or those "non-gameplay" parts are ray-traced Quote
skdr Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 self shadowing? HL2 doesn't have "non-gameplay" parts... (ie. cutscenes) Quote
Polaris Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 Well Valve does use scripted scenes for trailers and stuff but its not the same thing as the cg "gameplay footage" that other guys try to pass off on people. *cough*killzone*cough* Quote
Sindwiller Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 HL2 doesn't have "non-gameplay" parts... (ie. cutscenes) Yes, but thats a movie cuttet from gameplay parts. Maybe Valve has cuttet some ray-traced movies in, you know? I know that HL2 has no cutscenes, ive played it myself. self shadowing? Yes. Self Shadowing. Logically. And how is self shadowing realized? Except projected texture shadows and stencil shadows (forget the Z-buffered shadows, they suck ass)? Quote
