KungFuSquirrel Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060707-7213.html The funny thing is, what he proposes could actually kick ass if done right. I'd actually buy a football game with that sort of mode. Get all the gang together on Xbox Live or whatever on Sundays (or Saturdays if you're more into the college game like me )... I approve! Quote
ReNo Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 Libero Grande did that some years ago on the PS1, but was only mildly popular. Probably due to the limitations of the platform really - playing as one person on the field while the rest of the game is determined by AI probably wasn't too fun an experience. With the increasing popularity of online gaming it is however becoming a far more feasible possibility - seeing other HUMAN players of your team in control is always going to be far more immersive than watching your AI teammates. Mojo Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 with more than 5 players (on a side) though, do you want to be a linesman that hardly gets any play, he just tries to block the defense from rushing in over and over. Seems like a good idea, until you remember all the boring parts (who wants to be the guy on special teams where your only job is to try to set up a block for returner?). 3v3 to about 5v5 might work, anything higher than that would just suck in my opinion. Yeah, I think 3 to 4 would be the real sweet spot. 10, no way. focus on the usual 'star' positions and let the AI handle the rest. QB, RB, WR, TE, etc. would be good for offense, of course, with CBs, DEs, safeties, etc. probably being the most fun on defense. Quote
